Build numbers on 84 Dodge 600?
Hi all,
I just won an auction for a 1984 Dodge 600 2.2 Turbo convertible (I pick it up next week). I used to own one of these back in the 80's and it was one of the best cars I ever owned. I have been checking eBay regularly for the past few years for one of these cars and one just came up that happened to be located only about 50 miles away. The really neat thing about the car for sale was it was the same color (brown), same interior (tan), and was also a 2.2l turbo. I tried to find the vin number of the car I had but I couldn't find it. I am really curious as to whether this is the very same car as the one I used to own. I mean, how many brown cars (this was the first brown one for sale I saw on eBay) that had the tubo and were shipped to New England? No other ones on CarDomain are brown either. I did some reasearch on numbers and according to allpar there were 10960 Dodge 600 convertibles sold in 1984 with over 16% (1786) carrying the 'ES' package. (my car and the one for sale are not ES's). That leaves a total of 9174 non ES's made. I have tried to search for a more detailed production number breakdown but haven't been able to find anything. Can anyone point me towards a source for production numbers or even better have a resource for them? I would like to know how many of the cars came with turbos and even better if it could be broken down by color. Does anyone know how common the chocolate brown color was or what the factory name for that color is?
i asked the owner if he knew any history of the car and all he could say was he bought it in 1987 for his wife. I turned mine in in early 87 so it is still possible these are the same car.
Thanks much!
