wow its been a hell of a long time since i have been here!, got a bit of a story to tell. About a year after starting this thread my beloved camo ram fell ill, it started to develop a slight knock, trying to make a smart decision I seized the use of the truck and let it sit till I could afford to replace the crank as I figured I was going to at least need new bearings, finally after 6 months of the truck sitting I dropped the pan and pulled the crank to find decently worn main and rod bearings, i could finally afford a new crank, bearings, oil pump and timing set picked up all my parts and went to town on the project. I have built motors before so the work was no problem. I'm use to comp cams timing sets which have an alignment of 6/12, the timing set i was installing was a cheap autozone special I figured I might as well read the instructions just make sure they weren't any different from what i'm use to, come to find out the instructions were 12/12 so I went with it but oddly enough the instructions were incorrect putting me at 180 out, which i had no idea until i got her all buttoned up and ready to go, cranked her over and bent all my valves, what a day! this all happened 10 days before I shipped off to Ft Benning for basic training as i joined the Army 6 months prior to this and was just waiting on my date, I wanted the truck running for when i got home. i had to leave the truck with my father in law who was supposed to take care of it, long story short he didnt, i ended up shattering the 4'th and 5'th metacarpals in my right hand and had to be a hold over as well as do an additional cycle after my hand healed. this extra time had me on sand hill for a total of 6 months, through those 6 months the truck sat not being touched, finally after i got to AIT i called up my dad and had my truck towed to a well known mechanic who came highly recommended by a close family friend, during the 3 months i spent in AIT the truck was supposed to be finished, a week before i was due home i called to find out the truck was still down, i was told that he hadnt had time and wont have time to fix it, he told me that if i pulled the heads and brought them to him he could have em rebuilt and back to me in a day, i told him after 9 months of being away I would have 8 days to come home pack all mine and my wifes stuff, get it loaded on the truck and get us down to Ft Hood, he appologized and said he just cant find the time due to a death in the family. I asked if he had any trucks he would sell me and he said he had a 95 tahoe 2 door z71 4x4 which I have always liked any how, he said 2700 which i just couldn't afford I talked to the wife and she told me i needed to offer my dodge up for trade, that its all we can do, i was upset but as the man of the house it was a sacrifice i had to make, I gave up my baby for some raggity ol tahoe, i liked it but it was not my dodge thats for sure, 2 weeks after i moved into my new house he sends me a video of him crushin my truck through a mud pit at a wide open 6k RPM, I was pissed! i felt like he took me because he knew i needed a vehicle, I still feel as though he did, this all took place in december of last year.
Soon after i received that video he sent me plans and pictures of what was to come with the dodge. I guess he figured i wanted to know, goin from the 8.5" of lift on 35's when i had it he put in an additional 6" of lift and put a set of 53" set of PLS trailer tires on a brand new set of 20" gear alloys. all the extra lift and tire and he never took it to the pit. the truck then was traded to a man named phillip for a quad, and then traded to another man named Derrick for a boat, he ran it up and down the interstate every sunday since he had it, finally he listed it for sale and during my last trip to the field my father calls me as im getting ready to hit my cot and rack out telling me he found my truck and is trying to get it back. after a week of loan hunting i was able to get the coin and I now have my dodge back!. it now has true dual exhaust, 14.5" of lift on 53's a solid running 360 with fresh heads a new crank, new timing set and oil pump, I also built the tranny while i had the crank out.
Sorry for the long story but after switching 3 sets of hands i finally get the truck that i never wanted to get rid of to begin with back... yeah life is good! after we got to Ft Hood I picked up an 01 Ford F-350 super duty with the 7.3 powerstroke and a standard 6 speed the truck already had a 4.5" straight pipe off the turbo and now has a cold air intake waiting on a chip!
Any ways enough is enough, sorry
heres a pic of the truck as it sits now!
Enjoy!!!

I'm sure I have plenty of pictures of the weld wheels on the truck before and after the paint job! I actually still have em, Daniel never got rid of them and gave them back to me when he learned that I was getting the truck back, I just have to pick them up!
Let me look for a couple shots!
