Default 1995 Camo Ram 1500 360 Magnum

Heres my Ram 1500, I traded the 74 Dart I spent 2 years building for this truck, when i got it it was still factory forest green and the paint was haggard on the hood and top as most are with the forest green paint on the early second gens. the truck already had the lift kits, a set of 35" BFG Mud Terrains on 15" forged alloy Weld rims, and a custom-(terribly done)- grill guard.

so far I have cut out all the welds on the grill guard and done em correctly as well as added gussets to the primary bars of the grill guard, I ran down the BFG's, picked up a set of 35X12.50X17 Procomp Xterrains and put em on black steel wheels as well I sanded down the entire body and shot it with Dupont Nason primer and Dupont Imron industrial flat brown, olive and black this paint will outlast factory paint and as most know the durability of Imron is unbeatable!. I still have about 1600 in parts to buy I would like a set of Fender flares, a moon visor, window vent visors, a black grill, smoked tail lights, halo projector head lights, a set of late model second gen mirrors, and the spray on bed liner I will use for the lower kick panels on the truck which at the moment I just shot black until I can afford the liner. in time I'll be fabricating custom diamond plate fender wells thats why I didn't bother masking the plastic ones!

Heres a few shots!

Second day in my ownership after a long bath!

Looks good, looking to repaint the bottom line of my ram how you did. Any pointers for me? Also where'd you pick up that paint?

Thanks

Sorry I been out for the past two weeks had to make a trip to California. Paintin the lower edge is pretty easy if you want to do it flat and right I recommend Du Pont Imron, it's gonna outlast Dodge's factory finish, it's flat so it wont fade, its easy to repair if scratched and its some seriously heavy duty tough paint. I used 1" masking tape and just masked evenly across the trim line dividing the upper half of the truck from the lower portion they sell a tape paper that you can use so you don't have to worry about getting a bunch of newspaper. before masking take some 100 sand paper and sand the lower edge until all the nicks are evened out, it wont hurt if its to metal just DON'T go to metal all over, a dot here n there won't hurt! go back over it with 400 paper, clean the lower portion with laundry detergent-(very tough soap!) then use Du Pont Primer, after the primer is dry, wet block it, clean it and spray your black, you will need just a quart of the primer, can of activator, quart of paint, a can of hardener, mixing sticks, paint strainers, a gun, sand paper and a few days to work, a day of prep, a day for primer and a day to wet block and paint!.

It can be done with rattle cans but it take s a lot and a good amount of talent to avoid strokes, thats the one flaw of spray bombs in flat, you will always be able to see streaks n strokes!

Hopefully this helped!

Well thanks! it's in the shop I work at right now, I'm rebuilding th rear end, just gotta put another shim on the pinion, reset the backlash, button her and fill her and she's back on the road. Can't wait this 4.56 should show a huge difference!!!
