well i dont know how many of you have ot pay excise tax on your vehicle every year, well pretty much u have to pay on how much the town values your car for. first of my 05 srt wit 9800 miles is valued to them at 8,250 bucks. which in this case is good i laughed cus i know my car is worth more but the taxes are lower. however the issue date on it says 2/22/07 and the stamped envelope it came in was dated 4/3/07. now the due date on this bill is 4/407 which means im late, and they sent it to my house 1 day before its due and technically they are required to give minimum of 1 month notice. im not paying this and im calling the town hall tomorrow and bitchin. lol i just think this is funny not car related. just wanted to vent and figured u guys/girls could get a good laugh at this like i did,

I visited Boston many times when I was married to my first wife.....the taxes up there are very high in order to pay for the liberal "public assistance" (welfare) policy they have there. Neither one of my inlaws (or their 23 y o otherdaughter) worked, but they got all the food they needed and free housing in a middle class area.......they didn't have a car so they had to take public transportation......boo-hoo!!

yes this state is the worst state to live in,we get taxed on our paychecks, taxed on items we buy, taxed on a vehicle when we buy it then you have to pay local "excise tax" on the vehicle every year. its bs, theres not one thing in this state that goes without being severly taxed. hence the reason its called taxacusettes. and all this tax money goes to the lazy people who dont want to work that can work. im not downing upon people who really cant work but i know of soooooooooooooooo many people around here that can and find any reason or way to get out of working so they can claim disability or claim welfare, hence welfare pays people money to sit aronud and do nothing, and gives them food stamps to get groceries and prettyt much completly supports and unemployed person. however theeres so many people that take advantage of that and other hardworkers earned money. anyways i just thought its funny that they send me a 300+ dollar bill 1 day before its due, and usually its sent a month or 2 in advnace so if they think im paying this excise tax on my car now that its late they can basically kiss my *** if they think i wont take this to court unless my due date gets reassigned lol

i wouldnt pay it either especially since they sent it to me 1 day before its due and they are supposed to give you a 1 month notice... thats BS

This is just a general comment about car taxes. I live in the great state of Virginia. In 1998 we had a candidate for Governor run his campaign based solely on the promise to do away with the car tax. He got elected by everyone who thought that was a great thing, short sighted people, who didn't seem to understand that if the State curtails a tax that lets say brings in 500 million a year they are going to have to raise taxes somewhere else to make up for that loss. We still pay a car tax in Virginia though it's quite a bit less than it used to be and our legislators are still trying to figure out where they are going to recoup the money Governor Jim Gilmore gave back to the citizens.
The question isn't a car tax question or Republican vs, Democrat as the Captain put it in a spot up a few spots from this. The question you have to look at for every State is the total tax liability per citizen.
As for paying this bill that you just got I'd call them, tell them you just received it and will pay it as soon as possible.

well i went there today, they said they never recieved back the first notice which means they assume that i recieved it. hence i never did tho i explained that it happened with my mother as well and theres nothing they can do so i went off a little and said im not f-in paying this bs, she said we gave u 15 extra days to pay it i said IT WAS SENT THE THIRD AND RECIEVED THE 4TH
thats 1 damn day!. i said well u know what take this to jeffry and jeffry let them come after me cus ill let them know what really happened, not to mention IF AND I MEAN IF i decide to pay this dont expect me to pay the late charges! and stormed out pissed off, screw that, wow i wont get my license renewed if i dont pay i dont need it renewed any time soon
