Default Bucking and clicking noise

I have had my 2004 SRT-4 for almost 2 months now, i have 2900 miles on it, I have recently noticed as i accelerate it is not smooth it is kinda hesitant. Also when I slightly accelerate or decelerate the car bucks doesn't matter how fast i could be going 15 mph or 45 mph. The bucking is a front to back motion. I brought it to the dealer once but they said it was normal. It is like a task to drive it with out having the bucking happen. Also when i was driving between two buildings i noticed when it bucks there is a clicking noise, sounds like it is coming from the clutch or transmission. If anyone has any answers for me b/c i am bringing it in to be checked again tomorrow, and it is kinda depressing to drive a brand new car that doesn't drive like one. Thanks Erik

I have not heard of this problem (others may have) but it def. sounds like your clutch could be acting up (maybe the throw out bearing?)... keep us posted if you get it fixed!

I get the same thing driving slow in 1st or 2nd around my condo complex...if I give it more gas and let the clutch out quicker, it goes away. It's just a car that doesn't like to be driven slow...

Silver, if you are referring to what Dusty is referring to, then my car does that... the car "bucks" at low RPM's... reverse is a good example... the gearing and the engine RPM do not work well... as Dusty said, the car likes to be driven and loves the "R's" (rpm's)

Mine too as far as the low RPM's go, but not while normally driving.

they all do that and it's not a bad thing- if you want a smooth clutch don't buy a sports car. the clutch plate springs are stiffer to allow for the greater power going through it, so it doesn't have as much give- therefore when you make sudden changes in the power setting the power goes straight to the drivetrain rather than getting absorbed by the transmission. what is happening is a good thing- it means dcx and pvo concentrated more on performance than dulling the rough edges to make you feel comfortable. can't have it both ways- ever driven a ferrari or a porsche, or even a viper or vette? not exactly lincoln towncars.
i just re-read that and it sounds a little harsh- sorry.
it just bugs me when people complain about sports cars not being comfy- two of the biggest complaints the mags had about our car were that the seats were too narrow and the ride was too harsh- i just wanted to tell them "dude- it's a sports car, you moron! if you want comfort go buy a buick!" of course, i took it as a compliment that they didn't come up w/ any valid complaints.
so, anyway, that wasn't directed entirely at you.
but stop whining anyway!! [sm=smiley2.gif]

Very true, my Shelby Z was a real ***** since it had a super beefy manual clutch, unlike the softy hydralically assisted one on the SRT-4. My Shelby Z's clutch pedal would make that leg bigger than the other because of all that pressure you had to apply to disengage the clutch.

yeah same with my old 3000gt, it had an upgraded drag cluch with no feather... that was great when racing but normal driving it was terrorable. stock 3000's are the same way with a super hard cluch. i was driving a friends for about an hour a few weeks back and when i got back in the srt it was crazy how easy it was to push in... i like it easy though lol.
