Hi I'm Gina, I just bought my silver SRT 4 which I absolutely love but I have a question about which octane to use. The manual says to use 91 octane and that a higher octane is not recommended. We don't have 91 around here. Should I use 89 instead of 93 octane???

 

Always go higher, never go lower. It also mentions that you can use a lower grade of gas, like 89 octane, but that it will drastically hinder the cars performance. I have ran nothing but Sunoco Ultra 94 octane in mine and it's just fine. I have no idea why they recommend against using higher octane.[&:]

 

hum...then i wonder why i have that neat little 100+ octane switch....

dcx does some strange things sometimes. never use gas below 91, the cali people have some serious knock issues since they only have 91, it causes a lot of problems. don't go lower, the car won't like it very much....

 

i wasnt aware there were diff octanes in diff areas. <packs his bags>

 

yeah cali sucks and thats one of the reasons.... i always use 91 because thats the best i can get at the pump.

 

...and that's one of MANY reasons I don't live in California.....

Yup, different areas of the countries have different octane ratings as well as different seasonal formulas that make a big difference as well. You never really know what you're putting in your tank.

 

I ran 91 when I was in cali. After I got to D.C. WOW what a difference. Always go higher.
