Default O2 Housing Install

I am having an new 3" O2 housing installed today. The shop doing it told me I do not have to reinstall the straight black and Y bracket. Does anyone know if these brackets should be installed or left out?

I believe you are referring to the support brackets for the housing itself? If so, some of the aftermarket O2 housings do not have a place to mount these brackets to (for example, the one from Modern Performance). If this is the case, then you really don't have an option. However, if you got it from MaxxFab, then there is a place on the housing to reinstall the brackets.... If I remember correctly, the straight black one should be re-installed, for it has nothing to do with the O2 housing. It just has to be removed so you can move the heatshield around. The Y one should be the only one that is left out. This is also assuming we are talking about the same brackets....

Yes we are talking abou the same brackets, and yes it is the Maxxfab O2 housing. So the straightbracket should be reinstalled and so should the Y bracket

EVERYTHING should be reinstalled. it's not there for fun. those are support beams that help keep your turbo and exhaust happy and in one piece.

Good call. Wonder why they said you wouldn't need them? That is kind of wierd. maybe their just lazy? Even though it takes just a couple minutes to do.....

the support bracket on the o2 housing is kinda a pain, they probably just didn't want to bother doing it. laziness on their part.

yes they were lazy, but they ended up putting them back on. i just got done driving it, it is a lot quieter but it still sounds good. i went with the full 3" all the way back to the dual tip. i have to say that Maxxfab makes a great exhaust, thanks for the reccomedation PSI Chick.

A lot quieter? What did you have before? Did you get the dual tip w/ the magnaflow muffler?
