Default Underdrive Pulley Question

Would like to hear some opinions on underdrive pulleys--are they a decent mod? Are there any long-term effects on the a/c, alternator, etc? I see a couple on Moderns' site, and their brand is 1/2 the cost of another one they sell, butI'm glad to pay the extra $if it's worth it...

I have to agree with Psichick. I have the AFX udp and I've replaced my power steering pump and my alternator already. It's crazy how Howell's website says the AFX udp makes the accessories last longer but I doubt that's true. I purchased the udp around mid 2004 and replaced those parts around mid 2006. The main reason I'm replacing my AFX udp is b/c I'm not getting enough power to my battery with my sound system.
I will be replacing the udp soon. I was going to switch it back to the stock udp but I can't find it. I'm going to have modern performance customize a udp with the same lightweight materials they make the mpx udp with but It's going to be the stock size. By me doing that, my car should rev. faster than the stock udp but it shouldn't kill the power s. pump, or alt. What do u think of that?

Good idea. I've never been a fan of UDPs simply because they take away too much power from the a/c and batteryand here in Texas a good a/c and battery are a must. Plus, the hp gains are usually small.
