hard pipe ?
ive heard that replacing the stock rubber tubes with steel ones gives you an extra 2 psi.... who here has done this and is that true?... i live in cali so the best gas i can get from the pump is 91 and am running about 15psi at best. would it be safe to put the tubes on and get 2 more psi and still run on 91? i have 2 friends who have turbo gti's and they both run 18 psi on there turbos but theres are dinky, im sure that the srt turbo isnt much bigger but i just want to be safe.
I have a new hard pressure pipe, but have yet to install it. I haven't heard of the 2 psi gain though. It could be possible since the rubber hoses can flex and expand some under pressure causing a slight boost loss that could be corrected with the hard pipes which have no flexability and would therefore maintain higher boost pressures. But then again the PCM is what controls the boost limit and then that wouldn't matter at all.
yeah when i heard about it i was like hummmm... how would that work. i couldnt see how you would get a psi gain... i just want to be safe. i was running 18 psi with two DR 650r's which are larger than the bows we have but that was to much for the mitsu engine i had in my last turbo car.
