Default bit concerned

I'm thinking about purchasing an SRT-4. I testdrove one and (of course) was impressed with the power. It would blow all the other cars I drove out of the water so to speak. I hear, though, that because is it realistically looked at as a neon, the resale value may really drop quick. Also i'd like to know if there are any issues with that car i need to know about. (eg. how the car is with several thousand miles on it) It is always nice when it is new. Thinkin' about getting the '05, by the way, it is available with some new orange pearl metallic paint, although i'd want blue brake calipers, not red.

Well, the resale value may drop, but not because it's a neon. Most turbo cars drop in value more due to the fact that the engines USED to not last as long as a regular car engine. However, if you keep your maintenance records, and take care of the finish, you'll be able to ask a fair price. Besides, the Dodge warranty (on mine) is transferrable.

You gonna get the orange paint? O well. It's extra $$$. The SRT-4 has had no major issues that I have heard of other than melting plug wire #4......you can live with it. You're going to have to have the dealer do the calipers, or do them yourself though....

Yep, the #4 wire after a few thousand miles is known for failure due to excessive heat from the turbo. Just get a set of MSD wires for $40 and the problem is solved. I never thought about the color of the calipers being red against the new orange body color.[:'(]

yeah, i've been procrastinating doing mine blue too, since i use blue instead of red as my accent color. [sm=goodidea.gif]i'm sure you know there are kits out there w/ everything you need to paint them. i actually used engine paint (for the heat resistance) on my previously owned neon and it worked great (i took them off and bead-blasted them first, though).

I plan on keeping mine a good long while, perhaps forever. But if DCX comes out with the perfect RWD, 2 door, manual trans., V-8 (Hemi) that looks great and isn't over 2 tons like the 300, then the SRT-4 may not stay. Although I don't see any threat of that happening.[:@]

As for as the plug wire #4, I bought my car maybe 4 months ago, have 6,000 miles and no problems from the #4 wire. Mine although has a 90 degree bend in it, which I heard the 03's didn't? Anyway #4 no prob with mine, so doubt it will be with 04's
