i just realized what i said- it does matter how early you go- you don't want to red light, i was just emphasizing that r/t has nothing to do w/e.t.'s and trap speeds (trap speeds are calculated by time, btw, not w/ a radar gun or anything).

I too thought about trying to launch mine like I would on the street, but I was a little too on edge to get it down right. And then hitting the boost fall off point in first gear, which is far lower than the other gears shift points (around 5K it drops on in 1st gear), a few times sure as hell didn't help. Every other gear is fine and will hold full boost up to the red line. The launch is the make or break part of your times in the SRT-4, if you can perfect 1st gear then your times will be what they should be since the rest is fairly easy and just a matter of hitting the shifts. My times sucked because of my **** poor launches, everything after that was dead on, but at that point it's already too late.

For the first time those are some good times. Lot better than my first time down the 1/4mile. The SRT-4 is hard to launch the best way for me is to stage shallow, bring it up to 3grand, dump the clutch and be in second around 5grand, and i shift at 5500 to 6200 till its over.

On street tires try to launch at 2000-2500 should bog, when the turbo spools up it will spin, but nothing big. And of course after you get rolling your right foot should stay on the carpet till its over(the 1/4mile..not the car blowing up) You will no when you get the launch right on the car, cause it will hammer you in the seat and take off like a bat out of hell....

Good job...keep us posted...you will see your times improve.....dont be nervous......screwing up in front of+/- 500 people makes for some good jokes....Gotta learn to deal with it...dont hate em just be there to tell em when they screw up......

Why don't you try a set of drag radials. It will set you back a couple of bucks, but you will get a great launch. If you plan on going to the track a lot, it should help. All the power in the world isn't good unless you can lay it down. Good luck. I went to the track with my car and said screw it, can't launch the thing worth a damn on the street, so gonna wait till I get some drags.

I agree, they're supposed to knock off as much as a full second off your e.t. from what 71RoadRunner said.

Santa, add those to my list!!!

Gump, nice work. Practice makes perfect or a least mid 13's. Once you nail your launch and lower your 60 time you will be golden.

Good work.
