Intresting Fact about Carbon Fiber
I was reading in a magizine. That for every 200 pounds of weight you eliminate you drop 0.1 secs run time on your 1/4 mile.
Thought it was kinda intresting. Now my question is how much differnce is a CF hood Vs the stock one?

Not 200 pounds. Plus, some of them have fitment problems and don't have functional hood scoops which is not healthy for your turbo. MP has several versions and I would touch base with them before making a decision. PSI chick can probably elaborate on this further....
a carbon fiber weights about 12 or 13 lbs, saving you about the same, so no where near enough to drop a tenth, but add in a few other weight saving tricks and you never know!!!
there are many carbon fiber hoods on the market right now for the srt. some are better than others. kaminari has one, as does ipp, howell, fiber images, and carbon by design. the howell one doesn't have a functional scoop, so i wouldn't recommend that one. the fiber images one is very nice, a lot of people have it and like it. the kaminari one is also good looking, but it's expensive. the carbon by design hood is very nice, looks like stock and has good quality. they also have another hood coming out with a higher bump in it to function like a cowl hood.
i went with the ipp hood for a couple of reasons. the first off is that i like the look of the hood more than the others. this hood doesn't look oem, which the others do. it has 3 functional scoops giving a full and wide area that gets air. it does not have a directional scoop in the back of the grates, so the air is passed over the entire engine rather than just directed at the turbo. this is a personal thing as to if that's a good thing or not. because of my set up, this is better for me. a directional scoop would not work well because the majority of the air would be blocked. some have complained about fitment issues with this hood, as there is a small gap in the front in the middle. personally i don't think it's that bad and i have no problem with it, but others think that it's a major problem. that again is a personal preference.
for the money being spent on these hoods, i would suggest the ipp or the carbon by design ones over the others. the quality and styling of those are better imo, but that's just me. take a look at all the hoods out there, but remember that you get what you pay for. there are hoods for sale on ebay for something like $300, but how long will those last???

i dont like the look and i wouldnt consider that a preformance upgrade... you could spend the same cash on something else and get so much better gains.

i did get it for both. some people like it, some don't, to each their own. i also got a very good deal on my hood, which helped me decide to get it. for me, the increased air movement makes it worth it. i have the dc sports strut bar and the bdj's coil pack heat shield, so the stock hood air ducts would have been blocked. this hood allows the air to still get to the turbo.
Yeah, the air blockage issue was a major factor in me getting the MPx STB. That turbo gets really, really hot and needs every bit of air it can get. The rest of the engine gets hot as well, but not like the turbo. I always let my engine idle for a few minutes after driving it and usually pop the hood as well. I'm probably not doing much for the image of SRT-4s being reliable, I've had several people stop and ask me what was wrong with my car when I had the hood up!!!!![sm=smiley36.gif]
