another bov question i need to ask.
To remove all dought about the stock gauge remove it and use a calibrated gauge to check it with, mine checked out dead on accurate....but i still replaced it with a gauge that reads over 20psi.
71rr - many people have found the stock gauge to be faulty, including myself. i have replaced mine with the 30 psi guauge. autometer does usually make a good product, however for whatever reason these stock guages just aren't holding up. the issue seems to be that they become incorrectly calibrated over time, and then show faulty readings. the most common issue seen is that the guage will no longer sit at 0 when the car is off. this seems to happen quite a bit, and when it does all your subsequent readings will be off as well. this stock guage is better than most, but it's still not the greatest, and no one really knows why. i have great faith in autometer gauges, in fact we used their phantom series guages in our mustang, and we have never had a problem with them.
I checked my gauge and it's "dead on" zero when the car is off. On the way home today traffic was light, so I decided to do a little road testing....
I found that I can get the BOV to go off at -11 running at 2500 rpm's. I tested it twice, so it's no fluke. True, it isn't as loud as it is under boost, but it's there and easily heard. The car runs great and I haven't had any problems with the Stage 1.....other than filling up my OCC faster due to more boost!
