Not sure of any goals for the strip. Might put the auto trans and engine in the rear and drive it on the street. I'm retired and have plenty of time to waste.

Still a little early for goals. First I need to see what can be done with the car. Is my idea of using the original engine going to work for rear wheel drive? Is there another trans that will work? I heard rumors of a jeep trans that would fit, front engine/rear drive. The Coxtrans is expensive for playing around and I not going to jump into that without checking other options.

Personally I would think there are far easier options to look into for a rwd ........ are you trying to build a light, fast, 4 cylinder ? ... or are you stuck with wanting to use the 2.4l turbo ?

Just looking into the possibilities for now. Tempting, 230hp+ stock with fairly easy upgrades. Engines are not too hard to find if a high priced. As for the rwd, thatisn't hard if you can find a trans. Seems to be room in body for rwd. Just need to do what guys have been doing for years, gut body, add tubing frame and cage and hang everything else on that sturdy frame. Maybe a Neon body would be better, cheaper, but then it wouldn't be a SRT4 would it. Would like to build a rwd SRT4 but want to check into what has been done already to make the job easier. Might be too expensive if new parts are needed. The trans seems to be the big problem. Want to know if rumor is true about Jeep Liberty trans, will itbolt to engine?
