Default transmission for project

What transmission will bolt up to the SRT4 engine, other than the stock one? Not looking for front wheel drive, automatic preferred. Information wanted for race car project.

Guess I'll have to make the question clearer. If the engine is out of the car, what transmissions will bolt up to it. It doesn't matter if the transmission will fit in the stock car or not becausethe car will be gutted.

Not sure to be honest, but I would think the Caliber srt4 tranny would bolt up.

a pt cruiser one will. other than that, i have no idea. why anyway? there's a perfectly good auto race tranny onthe market already that uses the pt, if you want to know if anything else will bolt up you're just gonna have to try it i guess.

If an automatic will handle the power I could use it in the rear. If I find a manual for rear wheel drive that would work too. What I want is rear wheel drive. This will be for drag strip only and will be a body shell over a tubing frame, plenty of room for the SRT4 engine to be moved around front or back. The engine is great, plenty of power for light weight. Might be able tomake it lighter than a stock SRT4, maybe not with trans and rear or heavy auto. It would make a fun and different drag car.

What auto race tranny are you talking about? One of my other replies tells what I would like to do. Might end up being too much work and money for not enough but would like to see what I can find.

dcr makes a fully built auto tranny, two pro race cars are running it and a few others have it installed as well. it's been working good so far....

Two of those trans would pay for another SRT4, not exactly the cheapest hobby to get into is it? I'm talking about racing.
