Hello all,

I am interested in a SRT-4 for my brother. I happen to like the looks of the car, and I was told by my builder to go with the Dodge over the Evo. First off, I own mainly import cars. I drive a G35 Sedan daily, and I have a modified turbo Supra as my play car. In my opinion, the Supra is the best car period. I've owned American muscle Corvette, Mustang etc., But that is not my point.

My brother is looking for a turboed car, he cannot afford a Supra, so my mechanic on my Supra suggested the Dodge.

Realistic Question--- How much $ does it take to get 300 at the wheels?

The SRT is a pocket rocket from the factory and is very easily upgradable. He'll have no problem getting 300HP and more if he wants. The Stage 1 Turbo Kit is out with Stage 2 and 3 coming... not to mention all the other stuff that can be done to improve HP...

I think he'll be very happy with his decision if he gets it. It's a hot car, that's very fast, and very upgradable... can't find too many cars nowadays that have all three things going for them.

I've watched them run all over in the 13's stock, and for under $21K nothing can match it dollar for dollar. The Corvette is a sports car and the Mustang is a pony car, you have to go back to the mid '70's and earlier for an actual muscle car, but I know what your saying though. From what I hear and have seen the Supras are nice, I've never been in one myself, the closest thing to it that I have driven was a friends 300ZX turbo.

ZAR94,

First of all, please note that SRT-4's are, for some unknown reason, underrated in performance figures by mother mopar...note that Dodge claims 14.2 for the 1/4 mile while my wise friend 71ROADRUNNER (above) notes you can find 100% stock SRTs doing the 1/4 mile in the mid to high 13s...hp and torque figures are also underrated. Figure on a grand or so to get darn close to 300, depending on whom you buy from and how much work you do yourself or farm out to others. Don't forget to upgrade the suspension and the handling as well (more $), 300 HP cars don't drive themselves down the road!

I like the little car. I think it is better looking then the Jap competitors. I am realistic though when large hp gets thrown to fwd cars. I guess my first wish would be a rwd car, but I also know that pricing has a lot to do with this car.

I would not trade it for my Supra, but that notwithstanding, I would definately consider it as a new purchase. My only worry is the reliability of the car. Supra owners get very spoiled with high hp with very few problems. I give Dodge credit on this one, and will probably have one in my family very soon.

ZAR94,

I'm showing my age on this one, but Mopar has always been famous for being fast but finiky, ever since I had my '69 Roadrunner...don't expect maintenance-free ownership (if there IS such a thing) on a SRT since it is a limited edition car and a high performance one to boot. Treat it well according to the owner's manual, don't be afraid to "toss it around" once it's broken in, and most important, have FUN!! Blowing away SUV's will become the norm. Blowing away 'stangs, and virtually any import under $35,000 will put a warm feeling in your tummy...(and your wallet)

You are showing your age, but I'm probably not far behind you! I appreciate all fast cars, but at the same time kids concern me with some of these cars.
