Default What are the best oil filters?

I normally go with mobil 1 filter (M209) but i was wondering if the K&N filter was better. Any input is appreciated.

I would imagine as long as you are getting a "name brand" they are all about the same... I personally use the Fram's with that black "sure grip" stuff on them (had one too many filters get stuck on the car!!)...

I guess it would depend on what size or particulate they are blocking (how many microns)... but just guessing, I'd say they are both fine and no need to spend more if one is more $$$ than the other.

IMO you should stick with the mopar ......you are not going to get any more from using anything else.

K&N and Mobil-1 are both good. NAPA Gold is also good.

I'll second that. You can google and get oil filter test results as well. Fram didn't do too well.

I was pondering this subject a while back and took time examining the boxes at auto zone....."according to the boxes" Mobil 1 filters out most of the particulate at 99.9%....the K&N oil filter was the worst filter in the store only filtering 90%....all the other brands and even off brands were higher than that....BUT!!! and thats a big but....the K&N filter sacrifices the filtrage for a much better flow rate....the oil will flow faster.....meaning cooled faster and parts lubricated faster...but I wouldnt take the chance of the particulates so I chose Mobile 1....

speaking of oil filters....and here's a stupid question but whatever......

i've seen these magnet thingies that are supposed to attract metal particles in the oil to stay in the filter making it more effective. sounds like total bs like most of these products are, but has anyone ever tried them or seen any reviews?

no kidding... huh... I'll have to do some more research on those Fram's... that sucks... I've been using them for years... DOH!

looks like Mobile 1 FTW...

Amy - I've seen those magnetic gizmo's... but... I'm not sure they are really worth it... sort of like the "Tornado" for your intake

my thinking (and again, this is just my opinion on it)... if they were necessary - wouldn't filter companies or OEM's be using them? it probably doesn't hurt anything... but... just not sure it helps...
