another stage 2 Q??
Okay, so I know some of you have the S2 on your cars...
And I know we had a post not to long ago about it, from the ones who have it on their cars, who has the Toy's option and who does not... I ask because, is the extra cash worth it?? From what I've read the IC sprayers are kind of a joke (just from what I've gathered) and I don't plan on tracking the car like others have... I like the dial-a-boost option... so is the Turbo Toys worth the price tag??
on that note, I know PSI Chick has said the install of S2 is pretty simple and the instructions are pretty easy to follow, given a moderate mechanical ability though, honestly - what's involved? The install of the S2 itself seems pretty easy and straight forward, but with the Toys option, how hard/what's involved??
so, I'd be looking at a what - a Saturday, a few hours, and maybe a buddy who can get me drinks?? haha...
thanks!

the toys are definetly worth it. i don't think it's even worth buying without the toys. it all goes to the stage 1/wga quesion, as stage 2 w/o toys isn't much better than that set up. the toys is where you really get the benefits. the dial-a-boost is great, and the race gas switch is the best. i don't know how effective the ic sprayer is, i've never used mine. it's installed, but i've never once turned it on.
as for the installation itself, figure about 1-2 hours for the basic stuff. the wiring can take about 5-6 hours or so, it's very involved and detailed stuff. you do have to take apart your dash to install the toys bezel and drill somewhere you chose to install the leds. you could definetly do it in a day, although it would be a long day. we usually install the basics one day and then reserve an entire day for the toys part. it's not that it can't be done, it's just that after three hours of putting pins in connectors you tend to get a little nuts and things can get silly. you'll start looking for other things to do, and it will just take longer. this is why i say 5-6 hours. realisitcally it could be done in 3-4, but with distractions, food and beer included expect longer.
what's involved in the installation? take apart most of your interior. find a way to get the harness through the firewall and into the toys bezel. fight with the power outlet to switch it to the new piece. the ic sprayer nozels are kind of a pain, as the ties have to go in some tight places. we use external resevoirs for the sprayers rather than cut into the stock windshield bottle. this makes it a little easier as you don't have to drain it and you can mount it easily and just bolt it into the car. nothing on the install is particuarly hard, it's just tendious and time consuming. you have to pay attention to what you're doing as well, especially when placing the pins in the connectors.
if you have specific questions let me know. we're actually finishing up a toys install this sunday, i can take pics of the process so you can see what's really involved if you like....

boy that would be pretty nice if you could at least get some info on the key areas. I am not afraid of the install (well, i don't want to "f" up my car, but... haha)...
I consider getting S2 w/Toys in the spring (since my car will be in a storage unit this winter and cash flow is a bit tight to be dropping big green on big items like this
)
thanks for the info Amy! I figured the Toys would be worth it, but... you never know... go big or go home!

Psi, i 100% correct.
The toys is well worth it. Now, as for the IC sparyer, i have now use for it cause of the size of my FMIC. Glhs is working on a project with one of his buddies to use the sprayer as a h2o injection. Now, that mod i can use for a future turbo upgrade.

I dont own one at all but i cant see spending the extra cash for the race switch when i can only get 91 pump gas. But thats me. I guess only time will tell. Like I said I DONT OWN it this is just my thoughts.
I have S2 WO toys in the mail, and i dont think toys are worth it. the intercooler sprayer is a waste of time IMO and i wont use race gas. i want my track runs to be what i run on the street so i use 91oct. if it came with a small fuel cell and a new pump then id probally have toys. the dial a boost is is the only thing id like from toys and to me its not worth the extra cash at all.
nothing against you west cost people, but i just find it funny that the majority of people that think stage 2 is a waste, especially with toys, are the people that have only have access to 91 octane. they always say that they can't get 100 octane and thus won't ever use the race gas button. just because you don't have access to high octane gas doesn't mean that it's not worth it for the rest of the country. the cali people really get screwed with that stuff. blame arnold....

Believe me PSI Chick, If I could run race gas, I would do it... Call me weird but, it's my favorite smell... YUMMY!!! Hubby and I were talking about the Intercooler Sprayer... Again I say, whenever you post you always know what you're talking about so, I take everything you say to heart. For our first modification, what do you recomend? Should we go straight to the Stage 3? I know I definately want to get the Turbo Timer because my ADD gets worse by the day and I'm running out of songs to listen to. LOL... Oh yeah, does any one else have a problem with the trim around the doors kinda looking stone washed? Hubby called the dealer and they were suppose to order new trim/plastic but it's been like a month and they still haven't called. Was wondering if any of you have had it happening yet? And what's up with the freegin' pink molding around the sun roof on the inside? Is that gay or what? I don't want PINK on my car... Can that be changed out as well??? Ok ok, enough questioins... Outtie...

lol i know what you mean about the race gas. we use cam 2 in the mustang, smells like apple juice
gotta love it!
as for what mods you should do first, that's really highly dependant on what you want from the car. are you looking for a daily driven 350 hp car that most likely won't give you too much of an issue? if so, then stage 3 is probably going to be a good choice. if you want a 400-500 hp monster that will tear up the track but require a little more maintenence and tuning, probably more down time, then an aftermarket kit would be a better choice. it's all about what you want.
what are your goals with this car? how much money are you willing to spend on it? not just in parts, but in track time, dyno time, and possibly installation costs (if you don't do it all yourself). what's your goal hp wise, or if that's not important that what do you want to run in the 1/4 mile? there are so many options and paths to chose with this car that you really need to define for yourself what you want.
