Best short ram air intake
Rains alot here too, I have K&N CAI and I absolutly love it. No worried about it sucking up water and hydrolocking your engine unless you submesrse it in water.. which means covering about 3/4 of your tires. I wouldn't drive through something like that CAI or not. Once you install the CAI it intensifys the noises that the turbo's make, cause a few heads to turn while dropping the pedal, and cause old men to dodge to the ground holding their heads as the turbo blows off
Im runnin a short ram (lotsa rain up here),i also have a temp probe installed on the filter inlet............the engine compartment drops to only a few degress above ambient temp's.,as SOON as you get rolling.
What I haven't seen discussed are the advantages to throttle response and transient times achieved with a short ram.
Now, on a dyno where the outside air can not folw nearly as easily into the engine bay as it does in real driving situations, the results wouldn't show the gains of a short ram. But I am sure that there are some. Just because a dyno dosen't show power, you can't assume that it isn't there. The stage 2 kit dyno's a measly 30 hp gain over stock, but it shows impressive gains on the track.
I was going to get a 2 stage intake temperature gauge for my SRT-4 instead of an EGT, because I wanted to see exactly what kind of a difference everything I did made in intake temperatures. I was going to place one sensor right after the CAI's filter and the other right in front of the throttle body. I would also see how much of a difference the intercooler sprayer and possibly the Cryo2 intake cooler would make. It would also show how efficient the intercooler itself is. But, the 2 stage intake temperature gauge is over $300, screw that! So, I went with an EGT/pyrometer instead, it is just as important if not more so and it was less than half the price of the intake gauge. Maybe some day I'll get the intake temperature gauge.
