i use 0w40 in the winter, works great

 

wasn't 10w30 used in the srt4 before they changed to 5w30? any changes made to the engine before dodge decided to switch to 5w30? the manufacturers probably always suggest using the thinnest oil possible just to get better mpg ratings, that's why i'm using 5w40. i've seena fewoil analysis tests for Ls2's using the recommended synthetic 5w30 oil and the results showed excessive wear metals in the oil and by switching to 10w30 it drastically reduced wear metals.

 

they only announced the switch because the epa forced them too. when they did the mpg and emissions raitings it was done on 5w30 oil, then they said to use 10w30 in the car. they got hell from the governement so they switched the recommended oil. that's it.

 

so......if its hot use 10w30....and cold winter use 5w30 or even 0w30 correct???

i usually use castrol full synthetic...opinions??
