I'd say you should be fine with Mobil 1 synthetic. I buy mine at Wal-Mart in the 5 qt. jug for $19.99. Doesnt get any cheaper than that. And yes the car takes the whole 5 qt. jug, dont let anyone else tell you different.

I've used Amsoil Synthetic and Mobil-1 synthetic. Very little difference except that Mobil-1 is cheaper and easier to buy (Amsoil is marketed via a MLM plan, much like Avon). I think I paid $22.00 at Wally World for the 5 qt jug a few weeks ago. The SRT-4 takes almost a full five quarts, it's almost impossible to get every singledrop of the old oil out, so you'll have a small amount left over. You don't want to overfill.

No additives are needed or recommended.

i added 5 & 1/2 quarts yesterday during my oil change. let it drain about 6 hours while i went out and bought a new drain plug, ate lunch and took a nap.

Considering where you live, I would use5w30 or even 0w30. I've used 10w30 Mobil-1 down here in Texas during the summer and it works fine, but 5w30 will getflowing to the engine parts quicker and reduce wearin cold weather. The higher heat range remains the same. If Idaho is as cold as Montana, you might want to consider 0w30. Your car will start more easy and like I said, the higher heat range is the same, so your engine is protected.
