Default Octane Boost

I'm gonna kick myself for even asking this question but I was gonna ask my hubby today and the phones went down in the middle of our conversation. DAMN IRAQ!!!

The highest octane offered out here is 93. Will it hurt the car to put Octane Boost in it at all? What are the best brands out there? I use to use Super 104+ or some shiznit like that in one of my trucks but, it wasn't high performance like the SRT is.

PSI Chick or any one else that might know of what's the best stuff to use and is it harmful or helpful to the car, let me know please.

SPANK U VERY MUCH

Do not use any additives unless it is injector cleaner and then only if it needs it. Most additives and octane boosters contain elements that are harmful to the engine, read your owners manual for more information on this, it has a whole section on it. As was mentioned, the higher octane will not make any difference, especially if you have the stock PCM (computer) still. It may be of use with the Stage I or higher PCM though.

Thanks guys! You're right millenniumdna, I fawked up and wasn't paying attention when I was typing because my mind was elsewhere. I meant to put 01. sorry. I read most of the manual but thumb through it and read this and that. So, I didn't really catch anything on additives. I'll keep that in mind. I just figured since the Right coast gets to have a higher octane gas then why the FART can't we???

Yeah, save your money and just buy a premium brand name gas, not something from the local 7-11 store......

most octaine boosters don't really do much of anything. i just use regular old 93 in my car, and the cali folks with 91 seem to do ok, there's just some issue with the knock sensor. the only time that this would really be an issue is when you're racing, and for that just mix in some 104 to get your levels up and you should be fine. if you don't have 104 around, you can use torco to bump it up.

really though, unless you have stage 2, 3, or a big turbo, race gas isn't going to help. i would start adding stuff into the gas unless it's serving a specific purpose. as long as you get good gas, you should be fine.

They are all a waste of money. Go get the racing fuel at the track or local speed shop.

Yup yup from what paul told me today read the back of the bottle those only up the thingie 2-4 points. Theres 10 points between each octane rating. So that won't even bring you up to 94. Race fuel, though not even needed in a stock srt-4 is your best option if you really wanna go for it. My babies get Sunoco or Mobil 93.
