Is the Caliber srt-4 really much slower then the neon srt-4? I've been looking for a neon srt-4 but can't find any I really like andI would rather buy a brand new car. Also I hear the caliber can record your 1/4 mile 1/8 mile and 0-60 time on the dash. Is this true.. I can't see this being true b/c it will encourage racing.

 

the caliber SRT is slower stock, but is still a quick car. but not by any means is the neon SRT the fastest car out there. you can get a much better deal on a neon SRT4 though. none you like? how hard have you been looking? dont know bout the in-dash thing though. if you are worried about fast you could probably easily find a used S3 neon out there.

 

I've been looking for a stock neon srt-4 with low miles. But the ones I find are well over $15k. And I can't see buying a used car for that much..

 

i've seen threads where the srt4 caliber is putting down great bone stock numbers, like 280ish whp on 13lbs boost.

 

not suprising. they are holding their value pretty well compared to other neons.

 

the caliber basically has a built in gtech thing in the dash. kinda cool but still pointless.

the srt engineers have already stated that the caliber is not as fast as the neon, but there are no real numbers out on it yet. dyno numbers sure but those are kinda pointless without track times.

According to car and driver I have some numbers. They were just in the november issue. The srt-4 CALIBER has 285 hp goes 0-60 in 5.9 and 1/4 in 14.4 at 103. Compared to the NEON srt-4's 0-60 of 5.3 and the 1/4 in 13.9 also at 103. The caliber is 249 lbs. heavier than the neon based srt-4.

 

and i also recently read where some white lab coat guys dyno'da stockcaliber srt4 at280 hp to the wheels and claimed 13.8 1/4 mile times.

 

Some white lab coat guys huh .... LoL....... those guys are always such a good source for info!

 

yeah i'm not going by too much of what is in a "test" result, because even on the neon srt4 the 1/4 times can range from high 13's to mid 14's depending on which brand magazine you pick up. i'm more interested in seeing real owner's track times and trap speeds.
