Sorry hunn wasn't questioning you, just DCX's lack of logic. Damn thats ALOT cheaper than my Stratus R/T. It would've cost me $80 just for the fluid alone. Yeah I'm definitely gonna be doing it myself probably every 12k miles just to be safe. I don't beat on the car or anything (when I do drive it) so it behaves well. And ALOT of people are past the 18k mark....

I've been laughing at car manufacturers ever since they went from actual heavy oils in the manual trannys to motor oil and then/now to ATF. Using a lubricant that thin in a manual trans is just begging for problems anyway.

The reason if ya dont allready know for the atf in manual's is do to running taperd bearing's (and in my opinion weaker bearings) and trying to faze out manual's. As they usually don't need any work. And if ya look at truck tow ratings now auto's usually can pull more, were manual's had always had the upperhand. And aluminium cases don't like being low on atf.

Don't let some dealer stick it to you on earlier cars because you didn't change the oil at 18k. Show them what YOUR manual says. By the way, all ATF is, it's 30 weight oil with friction and anitfoam properties. It's still OIL!!!!b It just flows better that gear oil. When I worked For Honda, we used 10w-30 motor oil in all manuals.

My Shelby Z and my Neon R/T used 10W30 motor oil as well.
