Another possibility is the parking/e-brake, if it's even slightly engaged and you go to drive I believe it chimes at you.

Mine does, when I apply it, sometimes......I've gotten so used to so many chimes that I ignore most of them.......

as long as your speedo dosent start bouncing in the range of + or - 10mph and make a 'whizzing' sound as the stripped gears attempt to still work.
i recall this happening on one of my other cars a while back

^^^ Good info there...I will take note, if the speedo is starting to go, I will know what to do...get a new cluster and or new speedo gear drive.

The needle wavering at 70-75mph is very common and odd. The only time my speedo needle jumped or moved when it shouldn't was one time when my ignitioncoil was causing it to miss at an idle after washing the car, it jumped up to 5mph when it was running in neutral. The only other speedo problems I've ever had was with my '88 Daytona Shelby-Z, it would only work half the time and kick in and out at will with no noise or apparent cause and continued even after the speedo gear was replaced (it was plastic and undamaged).
