Lookin’ into a SRT-4
<FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">I'm lookin' into gettin' a '04 SRT-4 and I have some questions. If you guys could help me out that would be great. Right now I have a '93 SHO. It has a 220hp 3.2L DOHC that is basically stock other then a K&N filter. It's got full suspension (Eibachs, Koni adjustable struts, AL subframe bushings, custom full length subframe connectors, GTP adjustable control arms, 26mm rear anti-roll bar, strut tower braces, etc), +96 brakes, and handles amazing. I just had the transmission rebuilt with a TransGo shift kit, additional clutch, and extra steel added to 1st - 3rd gear. Shifts are perfect every time now. The car has 185K (almost all highway) on it but runs like its new (pulls hard all the way to the 7K rpm redline). It's very clean all around. It was owned by a Ford Master Tech and he replaced just about everything you can think of. Even the window moldings were replaced ($750) cause his wife thought they didn't look good once they got old and started to bubble a lil in places. Now I'm lookin' for something faster.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

The hood scoop can also be used for ram air. There is ducting from the scoop that goes over the air box, cut a hole in both and you have ram air. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">
roadrunner, ive got a question for you, i talked to you a little
on cold air intakes in another post, but the ram air hood just had me
think of something. im eventually going to install a ram air hood with
functional air induction, but couldnt rain, especially during a
downpour, soak the filter and go into the engine, like what we
discussed about sport compacts cai and the problem with them being
mounted so low. also, what about when it snows out, and you got a build
up on the hood, now i know the smart thing would be to move it
off the hood, but if it were blocked, wouldnt that effect performance
drastically? just some things i thought you might know.

I do know one thing about moding cars. Dealers CAN NOT by LAW void your warrantyfor having mods. They have to prove the connection of whatever problem you are having with the said modification. Even if they do prove that a mod induced your problem, then that does not mean your whole warranty is voided, just that problem will not be fixed under warranty. Dont let dealers pop your hood and see an induction system and then blame a clutch failure on the induction. Again, they have to prove mechanically how the mod caused a problem, they can not just point fingers and say "its because of that". If they deny your warranty work, make them put in writting why it was denied. If it doesnt make since to you, then it is probably bs, and your should fight them. Once you learn more about the law it will become easy. The dealers get paid MORE for warranty work than non-warranty work. Besides my 04 srt-4 i have a 02 svt focus with a jackson racingblower @15pounds(svts come n/a), quaife, clutch, flywheel, induction, coil pack, wires, no cat, borla exhaust, steeda shifter, pro flow maf, 42 pound injectors, and suspension mods. My dealer still warranties things that I believe to be faulty parts. I have had an altenator replaced, power steering pump replaced, power steering high pressure hose replaced, andboth rear control armsunder warranty with all of the above mods. My dealer knows that I know the laws. They gave me crap the first time I tried to get something fixed, but there was no way I was paying for a faulty part that I had nothing to do with breaking down. I can think of the Act right now...but once I remember it Ill post it, and you guys can read up on it if you want. <edited><editID>svtf_srt4</editID><editDate>38006.744537037</editDate></edited>

A blocked scoop would only be a problem if that was the only source of air for the engine. With the SRT-4 you can open those areas for ram air while still using the stock induction as well. If you were to eliminate the stock induction and go ram air only and seal it to the hood, then you could have the rain/snow problems.
