Default Looking into buying a SRT 4, have some ?

Hello,
Im looking into buying a SRT 4 and selling my dodge Daytona shelby and i have a few ?s
I have seen alot of cheap SRT4s that have been salvaged but then fixed and with a clean title. My ? is does this impact the insurance on the car?
Also I was wondering what years should i kind of be leaning towards.. I would like one with the LSD and i heard that it is better to find one with a 05 transmission. Any thoughts??
Another big ? would be im looking in the price rangearound 8-10k cause $ is kind of tight. Do you guys and gals think that is possible or should i stick with my tona for a few more years and save.
Thank you

04's and 05's are virtually identical except for colors. Never heard of tranny advantage. You can probably find a stock 04 with a few extra miles on it for your price range, but be sure to have it checked out......Personally, I would never buy a "salvaged" vehicle, especially when the top speed is in excess of 150mph!!!!

Less horsepower and unless the previous owner took care of it, the #4 plug wire will melt from the heat of the turbo. The LSD makes a BIG difference in launching the car.....forgot to mention that if you add stage 1, the 04/05has the bigger fuel injectors from the factory.....

From what I've heard, the 03 SRT-4's only have less power on paper than the 04 & 05. This helped keep the insurance lower.

haha, i would hope that it wouldnt still have wires on it from 03. but ya, problem was fixed on the wires in 04.
and the ratedhp difference was 215 in 03, 230 in 04/05. nominal difference really.

and i would be rather careful looking at salvaged vehicles, personally i would only take a salvaged vehicle if it was rebuilt by someone i trusted... with myself assisting the build.

one last note, if your short on cash. its rather obvious, but just something to keep in mind. you can save money at a faster rate than paying off a loan. your earning intrest instead of paying it.

Thanks for all your responces. I kind of decided to save for a few more months to be in the 10-12k range. Also idk what i would get for my tona. The motors are indential otherwise between the 03 and 04? I see alot of people pushing them past the 18psi mark with the right mods. Can the engine take a constant 18+ psi with the right tuning without doing internal engine work..ie different pistons and connection rods?
I know with my tona if i were to push it past 18psi i would need forged pistons and what not.
Sorry for all the questions...Thank you for helping me decide which one..lol

18 psi isthe limit due to the fuel system, if you get say a stage 3 set up and a fuel return line yea you can get 20 psi without haveing to change the internals. Some SRT owners can get about 430 hp with stock internals. I have only ever seen a car that had 413hp on stock inter's. Yes the motors are identical except for the 04 and 05 haveing the stage 1 injectors from the 03's

A salvaged car, will not have a "clean" title...if you wreck it in a accident and it is a total loss. The insurance company will only give you half of the agreed valuE!!!!! I know...I am a insurance agent. I would not buy a salvaged vehicle nor would I put full coverage on one!

yeah there are plenty of srt-4 guys that boost over 18 psi....not a great idea especially when the car will perform better at 18 psi...the stock fuel setup isnt good enough....even if you were to get your fuel setup good i think the turbo is only safe for 22lbs...and that would be pushing it...the internals dont have to be changed out until the 400+ hp mark....stock motors might handle 400-430 or so..but might as well change em out if your pushing the limit...

for the experience note...i had a stage 2 with mods race my unstaged 04 with mods...he was running 20+lbs and i was running 18...I beat him both times lol...
