Neon SRT4 or Dodge SRT4?
ORIGINAL: whatneon
Anyone have an owners manual? Surely it would say Neon if it was one.
My owners card says Dodge sdn, as does my insurance.
The book says SRT-4.
If you had a 67GTO would you call it a tempest?

there are alot of people who talk trash and say that it is a piece of sh%* neon but when you beat them they wont tell there friends or anyone that a "neon' beat them, they will say it was an 'srt4. ' Its whatever
Nothing ashamed of having your srt4 being called a neon cause if it wasnt for the 1st gen neons there would be no 2nd gen neons including srt4s. You can do the srt4 swap into any model of neon anyways. So any neon with a srt4 turbo and engine can be called a srt4.

If I put an srt-4 engine in my 2000 Neon ES, I'm not going to go around saying I have an Srt-4 because I don't. I just have the engine from one.
All neons run on 4 cylinders though thats why the srt-4 is called a srt4it has 4 cylinders and so does my sxt so thats why I call her my sxt-4 nothing to do with a srt4 even though I have the wing and my old stock exhaust from my acr srt4. Alot of guys that do the swap call there neon there srt4 anyways.
I'm sorry but I dont agree with "making" a SXT Neon a SRT-4 by simply sticking some rims on it and a engine swap and then "calling" it a SRT-4...a "sleeper" - yes...but its not a true SRT-4.
- Did you put a badge on it
- Did you change out the hood and wing and front and rear facia
- Add a boost guage
- Put in the SRT specific seats
- Change the springs and shocks
If you did all that and a little more...yes...then it would be a SRT-4.
just my .02 cents

^agreed, if you did a 'comlete' srt swap, you could call it an SRT-4. otherwise its an sxt with an SRT motor, or better yet a 1st gen neon with the 2.4 turbo swap. there is no such thing as a 1st gen SRT-4, but i have seen ones with the motor and even interior swapped out.
but its agreed there is no shame in calling it a neon.
ill have to agree with still ghetto as well. its only an 'SRT-4' to someone if they get beat by it. it dosent hurt the ego as bad as admitting defeat by a 'neon'
