Neon SRT4 or Dodge SRT4?
I have a conflict with some friends on another message board. They are convinced that the SRT4 is a trim level of the Neon, and I think that the SRT4 was it's own model to its self. I posted window stickers showing that the model is SRT4, not Neon SRT4.
I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. IIRC, Dodge omitted the Neon tag from this car to set it apart from it's Neon platform brethren.
Any thoughts?

It's a Neon....
The only difference between the SRT-4 and the normal Neon is the drivetrain (engine/transmission) and some suspension changes.....but in the end its still a Neon...
This was the first released vehicle from the SRT group....so the omission of the Neon name doesnt necessarily mean anything.... (I'm excluding the Viper of course, since it's not really a "SRT" vehicle despite the SRT-10 in its name)
Dodge SRT-4.
Try looking for a used one in any search engine and notice they are listed with the neon not as a subcatagory or finding a badge anywhere that says neon. Just like the old days duster/demon/dart, gto/t-37/lemanshad different nose and tails, interior, powertrain, ect...Same platform, sure but it is a different model and not a Neon trim level. Try telling your insurance agentthat youve just bought a neon, give them the numbers then hold on.

i drive a neon. my title says its a neon. my insuance says it's a neon. when i look for parts i search under neon, then srt-4 model. it's a neon. accept it.
whatneon - my insurance sure does say neon. that's what dodge says it is. that's what my vin says it is. if your insurance company has it's own classification for it then they're idiots and are probably just trying to charge you more.

face it, its still a neon. devilsreject hit it well, it was the first 'srt' and they did probably want to set it apart. and thus advertising avioded calling a neon like the plague. however, there is the SRT10 Ram, SRT10 Viper, SRT8 (Jeep, 300, Charger), the srt 6s and hell, now even the SRT4 Caliber.
i know, there are some people who have a problem with calling it a neon... but, well, look at it... its still looking like a neon to me
and good call Dusty, it does say "Neon SRT-4"
but its often a good debate, my wife dosent like calling it a neon, we debated this many times. and as stated above, i brought up its still the neon (PL) platform. only changes are as mentioned, besides some causmetic changes.

Insurance will charge you more for a SRT-4 than a Neon, your VIN # betrays this truth and they charge you more for insurance due to the car's power to weight ratio!!!! -
I drive a Neon too, abiet a fast one!
