Just on that subject, I have a guy tell me that he had a caviler that 1st topped out at 90, and that 2nd topped out at 110. Makes a whole lot of sense to me, lol

Well wait he did have a "race" transmission, the funniest thing was that I watched him leave the bar, he did get into a cavi, but there was bondo in the front fender, I would have fixed that before I bought my super trans, lol

But the Bondo/Body Filler....too much weight to paint it, he was more aerodynamic with that bondo and his super trans.

Hmm...This in very sad story, but you can't blame the guy in civic more than your brother because they are both at fault equally. I don't think I could live with knowing I killed someone because I chose to be stupid and race my car on crowded freeway or street. This all goes back to how I feel about people who drink & drive and end up getting in accident, rarely do the idiots die in accident they usually survive with few scratches but the innocent people always die or seriously injured. I feel for your brother but at same time I don't because it was his decision to race the guy and he now has to suffer the consequences of his actions (Goes back to what my father used to tell me "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time").

I think title of this thread should be changed to "One More Reason Not To STREET RACE"

Yes I've Street Raced my Stock '05 Orange SRT-4 against Stock '04 Mustang after 1 hour of practice with shifting, but it was on a back road that is empty at that time of day. I'm sure of this because Cali Highway Patrol closes the road down after certain time and only allowed me on the road because I was practicing driving the car and he was resident from down the road. CHP didn't care how fast I went down road and the young Patrolman was just as curious what the car could do so allowed us to race down the long straight road. Obviously I beat the Mustang but he did get jump on me (I already said I'd only been driving stick for 1 hour) but as you are all aware the car just flew and I caught up quickily and passed him I could have kept going but I chose to slow car down as I was doing 120 at the time. But in this car that will be the last time I race on street for a long long long long time. My insurance is almost what the car payments are right now and that is with clean driving record, my father being Traffic Instructor, and me being good citizen (Awared - Come on to accident I put my body are line and held car from rolling off hill into river, as the car was stopped and then started rolling backward with driver unconsious. I tore a lot of muscles, but I was big bad strong football/rugby player. Another person stopped to help after I was holding the car in place for 4 min. I guess people passing thought I was resting or something but they looked at accident drove by, he came walking up and said you need any help but all I could grunt was "BRAKE" and he ran to car and yanked e-brake the other person in accident was on his cell phone to his wife and couldn't hear me yelling for help because his windows were up also - It was early january and cold. I was not happy about it because it was that damn cell phone that caused him to side swipe the lady into light post on side of road and I told him to call the police not his freakin wife. But as the story ends the lady was Mayors wife and so I was awarded distinguished citizen and award for going above and beyond to save anothers life.)

Similar story....friend of mine and RIPSIGUY's (before I met this friend) was driving in his mustang when another driver pissed him off in a blazer. He proceeded to chase the blazer down, hello: road rage, the blazer flipped killing the passenger inside. He was charged with Vehicular Homicide/Manslaughter. Served 5-5.5 years of a 10 year sentence.

Easy out there killers...its not worth it. It really isnt'

I am sure everyone feel's that it is both of their fault. I wasnt going to post that just because that kid is going to lose his brother for some time. I am sure his brother has come to the conclusion that he is at fault, wether its partial or all of his fault he has to live the rest of his life with this on his mind. I also am glad to hear from a yougster(i'm guessing ur around 20) that has some common sense. I wish more younger people would use their brain a little more, especially while driving around a 3,000 pound FAST weapon.

While we are on the subject of awards and such, i must sieze this oppurtunity to tell you about my 15 minutes of fame and a amazing short story. If i am still up later i will scan in the newspaper article and post it.

Sept 17, 1996 i was driving home from work. I wont get into the back drop of why i was where i was, when 999 out of 1,000 times i would have driven home a different way. But i find myself driving home with tears in my eyes and crying over what i had just done. I come around a corner and see a fire on a front porch, i slow down and look and i am thinking it is a grill on fire. As i got real close i could see into the first floor of the house and it was engulfed. I stop my truck and jump out and run across the street. There are about 12 people standing there, so i just asked did eberyone make it ok? A couple of people just look at me with that empty and kinda dazed look. For whatever reason, i still dont know why. I took off running down the side of the house. This was a triplex so in the back it had 3 wood decks. I immediately ran to the one that i came to first and opened the sliding glass door. Bad idea, the flames roared bad and burned the hair on my arms. I slammed it shut and looked up and started screaming, IS THERE ANYONE IN THERE. It was like i knew there was for some reason. I screamed again, the same words and nothing.

I grabbed a wooden lawn chair, one of the real long ones and slammed up against the house vertically. I became to climb up the metal springs. As i got about half way up i saw a head pop out of the window, just then the springs broke and i fell back down. I picked myself up and yelled up to the lady, "Do you have any kids in there". I saw some toys directly behind the house, or at least i think i did before i said that. She said, "Yes I have two kids" I said listen honey you are going to have to toss them down to me. The smoke is growing darker and is bellowing from the window she is standing in. She disappears for what seems like forever and returns to the window with a baby. The baby is a 6 week old little girl. I start yelling up for her to drop the baby and without any hesitation she leans over from the 2nd story window and drops the infant. I catch the baby as soft as i can, you know how you catch and egg or a water ballon in a tossing contest at a picnic. No problem she lands very softly in my arms and i pulled her in close to my chest. I turn around and the neighbor is standing in his back yard, i yell over to him and he jumps the fence and takes the baby from me.

I yell up to her for the second kid(who is a 3 year old boy) she has him read but now she is starting to hesitate. After about 30 seconds of hanging on to him by his two arms, she lowered him as much as possible and dropped him. Once again another good catch, i turn around and deliver the boy to the neighbor. I go back up on the porch and by this time i cant even see the outline of the window because it is just spewing black smoke. I yell repeatedly for the womed but i hear nothing. I started screaming "Lady if you can still hear me you are going to die, come down here with your kids". In a flash i see her coming and barely get my arms up to catch her. I didnt catch her at all she passed through my arms, i might have slowed her down a little. She hits the wood deck really awkwardly. She ends up breaking an ankle and chippin g a tooth.

So to sum it for whatever reason i drove that route that day, i pulled over even though i was crying like a baby. Then i just immediately sprung and ran to the back of the house that needed me. Whilst the people whatching out front were having a BBQ. If you are wondering about the other 2 houses. After all of what i did there were onbly a couple of people in that back yard, i asked the neighbor about the next two houses that were starting to burn bad also. He said the 3rd and last one was vacant, but that there was an elderly man in the center house. So i ran up that porch and kicked in the kitchen window and just as i realized i couldnt get in anyhow, someone yelled that it was his 1 day a week that he went to the track and bet horses.

I am not a man of deep faith and conviction. I believe in god and also pray to god. But after that day and what happened i have to believe that i was lead by god's hand to save those people. There is no other explaination. I should just tell you why i was driving in that area that day. The day before i had found out that my wife had cheated on me. We discussed it and she said that she wasnt happy but she was willing to work on our relationship. I thought about it the whole next day and decided to drive to my Mother-in-laws house after work and tell her that i was divorcing her daughter. Any other day i would have drove straight home and would have been walking to the park with my 3 year old daughter. I did that every day and in the winter i would put her in her wagon and pull her around the circle that we lived on, to my parents house that lived on the same street. I sucked it up that day and told my in-laws what was happening and why, with a straight, mature and emotionless face. Once i got out side and started driving away and thoughts were wizzing thru my head i started balling like a baby. And then i rounded the corner and saw that house on fire.

My wife and i seperated for a year and a half and i had 50% custody on my daughter during that time. I held it together well and took Kung-Fu classes for something to do and to stay out of bars. We are back together now for like 6 years now and a total of 12 years of marraige. We had another kid, Carter he is 5 now and the biggest blessing in the world. He has been very sick since he turned 3. He is fighting a disease called Neroblastoma, it is a very aggresive cancer. He was diagnosed as stage 4, the worst. They said he had a 40% chance of surviving if he did 6 high dose chemo's and a bone marrow traqnsplant. He has had many surgeries and we have spent most of the last 2 years in Childrens Hospital. He was in remission for like 5 months but it came back this Spring in March. If the Nerublastoma comes back after a marrow transplant the survival rate drops below 5%. He has done 5 chemos at home and 2 high dose inpatient chemos over the last 7 or 8 months. The doctors are in AWE because all of his test's have come back clean and no evidence of disease. They have tested him twice now, once in Pittsburgh and once in NYC. Now he is enrolled in an antibody treatment that is only performed in New York City or Hong Kong. We tried this before he relasped and we got a couple of treatments in. They are aiming to get at least 6 treatments in. It taskes that much to teach hid immune system to fight the cancer if it tries to come back. He is up there right now with my wife and they will return on 12/23, right before xmas.

Didnt mean to keep writing and go on and on. But i guess i had to talk to someone it is hard to work 45-50 hours a week and then come home and play Mr Mom with mylovely)and sassy) 11 year old daughter.

If anyone would like to see my son's photos or treatment journal or sign his guestbook, please feel free. He loves hearing from people and we show him where they are from on a map or on a globe. We have had visitors from Germany and France and Brazil and all over the place.
