Personalized plates will attract attention, often the wrong kind. Down here, they are a favorite target of gangs. Some of them require their members to steal a set before becoming a member (better to rob from the apparent "rich" than to steal from the poor)....

 

DAMN Really? Wow, thats rough, and really stupid. Plates here are only like $40 a year. That by no means is rich to me. *gets out calculator* Thats like...3.50 a month. You could afford that hunting for change on the street!

 

Here in Georgia I have an amateur radio tag that the state of Georgia does not charge me extra for because I am a licensed amateur. Not sure about the cost for a speciality tag but,best I remember it is around $100. It is different in each state. If that is what you want......get it!
I had a plain tag stolen while on vacation in Florida once so, if they want it they will get it.

 

I live in a small town in Iowa I really dont think anyone would steal them and wont track any gang attention. Im likein some ideas. thanks

 

i'm in the city all the time and have personal plates, never had a problem. don't see the point, it's only like $40 like sexy said, not a big deal.

 

I got personalized plates, here they cost $80 every year. We have a website for checking to see if the plate number you want is already taken or if it's available, that's how I decided upon mine. Here's mine:
