Random smoke?
Sometimes when I start my car it will smoke for like 3-5 seconds then stop. It only does it at random times. Ive tried to pay attention to how i was driving it but its irregular. I only have 1 catch can and its on the pcv, would it be that i need another catch can? Any ideas, Thanks....
...could be a lot of things. guess try to catch where its coming from exactly. may just be some oil or something dripping down. then when the motor warms a little after starting it burns off???
what color is the smoke??? white is oil and blue is fuel i believe....i dont know what black= lol
3-5 seconds??? could be just cleaning out the combustion chambers?? mine smokes a lil bit when i start it but not for 3-5 seconds...more like 1-2 seconds..

blue smoke is oil...white smoke is water...And the smoke u are seeing if its comming outta the tail pipe and its white, its most likley just water from condencesion in your exhaust burning off, but if its like really white and thick you deff have a coolant leak
ya know i cant really tell the color, but its random.... I thought about seafoamin the car and seeing if that helps.... I put a second catch can on today and it started smoking alot. Like so much it covered the freeway and once i disconnetced the new catch can the smoking stopped...the car always smells like its burning something, like really rich oil or something. I cant quite figure it out. Its been doing this for a couple months now and ive tried to figure out what driving style causes it but its irregular any ideas???... any ideas on what to do to pin point it??
Ya got a real problem when the smoke covers the freeway!! LOL! Man....IDK
Are you sure the engine is not banging in the upper or lower end...
- Rings maybe
- Valve seals/guides maybe
- Possible head gasket...
Those would be some of the things...

It was smoking up the freeway until i disconnected the new catch can that went to the valve cover. can i put a breather on the valve cover?

I'm hoping for you that maybe you just hooked up the occ wrong....that would be the easiest cheapest fix.....
the two occ's should be hooked up
pcv >> occ >> throttle body
crankcase vent >> occ >> air intake (to recycle the gas vapor without oil being sucked thru your intake and etc)
