I'm thinking that a CC takes an already poorly designed PCV system...and makes it even worse. That much oil, after only 300 miles?
For guys that dump "several ounces" of oil out of the CC's every week or three, you must adding oil back to your motor. Right? I mean it must show up on your dipstick. So my question is, why have I never needed to Add oil to my NonCC engine?

As for you not noticing any action on the dipstick (no pun intended), your SRT4 must be quite special, for the oil that is dumped out of the OCC in that pic, is leaving YOUR PCV as we speak, it is just not being caught... And, SRT4's are notorious for eating oil. I am puzzled to how you have never had to add any oil between changes... I have added as much as a quart on numerous occasions....

I don't see how it would make it worse... the oil is not recirculating back into the engine without a OCC, or at least not where you would want it to... The reason you want an OCC is to prevent "that much oil" from dumping into your throttle body...

I meant it seems like it makes the slightly defective factory PCV system even less capable of doing its job when you attach extras (CC tank volume) to it. Just going from the fact that I'm real careful when I check my oil and it has always been exactly at the full mark. Maybe I should loosen off my IC hoses and see if oil starts pouring out, then I'll see about a CC if I need one.

Just pulled a hose at the IC and some oil did run out. Not a whole lot, just enough to make a mess. I ordered a Boomba CC just because I'm too lazy to build one.

just an illustration for those of us who are visual learners
1: PVC > OCC > Throttle Body (well, intake manifold really)
2: Vent > OCC > CAI (this one isnt necessary and a breather will do just fine)

Speaking of trapping oil, here's an article I wrote not too long ago.

The testing involved was done on a Corvette, but the same principles apply to any vehicle that has a PCV system. I must mention, though, that if you are getting massive blowby a catch can and an appropriate coalescing filter will trap almost all of the oil. Without a good coalescing filter, a standard catch can will allow plenty of oil aerosols to get to your intake and it WILL be coated with oil in short time.
