Default brake fade

Been having a problem with brake fade at the track, running hawke hp+ pads, but they still are fading. Running at Road America and acc in joliet. I believe it is due to heat. My question is, How do I cool the brakes, which is the best way. Also the power steering trouble code comes on at the track, not on the street. It seems to only come on when I am using the hight rpms, keeping it under 5600rpms does not throw a code. Any advice is helpful, thanks.

Stock, don't think there is a need for slotted or drilled, other cars are running smooth with no problems. I am running motul 600 brake fluid, so that should not be the problem either.

hum..i was just gonna say fluid. the hawk pads though aren't really a track pad, they're a street pad. that's probably why you're getting so much fade. try a race pad like the porterfields

More than likely the pads you are running are not designed for optimum braking at the tempature they are reaching on a roadcourse. I run Porterfield R4's on mine and they are fine. Unfortunately, they don't get hot enough to use on the street, so I change my pads and rotors out for the track/street. I have been told that once a can or bottle of brake fluid is opened you must use it or throw away anything you don't use, because it will get contaminated so you may also want to make sure that you always open a fresh can/bottle whenever you add brake fluid. I am sure it is much more critical when you are tracking your car. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, but I still am wondering if there is a brake cooling kit out there for the srt4? Or is there a good setup that can be made for the srt4?

Not all brake fluids absorb moisture. DOT5 is silicon based and does not. And I believe it is safe on paint.

That's interesting, the guys I know that run the HP+'s seem to like them.... I was going to say brake fluid as well, but have heard good things about the Motul. Maybe try the ATE Super Blue and a set of Carbotech XP8's or XP10's? Definately not the rotors though. Stock are more than enough....
