I got my 03 SRT4 (Black) a couple weeks back for cheap. It has 120k miles, 2 dents, and a couple scratches. The interior is MINT and under the hood is beautiful, I've already put about 2k miles on this beast and aside from third gear grinding a bit as I replied to Ghetto's post.
I plan on getting a Stage 2 kit w/ the toys.
I've already replaced the plugs, changed the oil, put new brake pads(along with a new caliper), along with putting on new tires.
So this summer I plan on replacing the rods/pistons (maybe cams?) either with the OEM ones or something more, along with eventually getting the stage 2 toward the end of the year.
Is there something else you would recommend I do before I begin putting a Stage 2 on it?The only reason I bought it with 120k miles was the fact the engine was in excellent condition, same with the interior. For 9k I would say I got a hell of a deal.
Input appreciated.

why are you rebuilding the engine? s2 certainly doesn't require it, you'll be no where near the limits of the motor. if you want to clean it out just throw some w/i on there and it will be sparkling new.
you don't NEED to do anything for s2 other than get the kit.

You'd be better off putting the money into rebuilding/replacing the tranny and clutch. If it has 120K on the original tranny and 3rd is grinding you might as well get that out of the way now rather than deal with the frustration of trying to figure out which fluid to use or which clutch when none of that makes much difference at this point. If it's a new or rebuilt tranny you still may have to rebuild or replace it. The synchros and/or shift forks are probably on their way out.
I would suggest doing that over putting any money into rebuilding the engine which probably doesn't need it, especially if you are going to add a stage 2 kit. The engines ae great in these cars. It is more important IMO to get the car shifting smoothly. Just my 2 cents. Good luck, and yes $9K is not a bad deal at all. Mine is an 03 and turned 5 years old today. Had the tranny replaced at 75K, now I have 100K and it runs great. Sorry for being so negative. Just trying to help. Good Luck!!
