Hi, this is my first post, and its definetly not my last..... I just might stick around here ;]


First off, I would like to say: I like SRT-4's


I never really gave the SRT-4 a second look, I never thought this car, with only 230 horsepower would actually be respectable (sp?)
Well, last night my friend and I were out looking for races, he has a 92` Mustang that is FAR FROM stock.... est. 350 @ wheels.

Well, my friend has been kinda havin trouble with it lately, fuel/air mixture isnt right running kind of poorly, but stilll by all means , its fast.

Well, we were at a light and a black SRT-4 pulls up next to us in the turning lane, we just kinda glance over and we were just like 'oh, its only an srt-4' kinda attitude... well, the light turns green and we go... the SRT makes a u-turn and GUNS it.... looked QUIIIIICKKKK and I said to my friend 'dude, lets race that! he looks quick!' and hes all 'alright, whatever' so we turn around and he had gone into the grocery store.... we sat there and waited (Yeah, we're losers like that) he came out of the store and got into his car... he saw us and knew what we were there to do.

We pull out onto Beach BLVD. and just start cruisin.. just messing around kind of staying even with him, then gasing it and passing him... he did the same, so.... we go down maybe 5-6 lights and we get an open stretch towards PCH. we are going maybe 30 or so... we get even and he nails the gas.... as do we... he got a bit of a jump, but we FLEWWWWWW past him and left him in the dust. My friend was like 'I thought you said he was fast?' so... we get to the next light which is PCH... well, we lined up next to eachother on PCH but I looked over to the left and saw a Police Officer parked by some boats trying to be hidden so I told my friend... the SRT didnt seem to notice as he took off spinning tires down the road..... we play a little catch up and we end up lining up at the next light *THE RACE IS ON!*

The light is red, hes kinda revvin his engine up a bit and such.... light turns green ... we get RAPED off the line, he shifts into second and starts to walk us... my friend has the pedal to the floor and we start to catch up, we get about DEAD EVEN at maybe 100 and we start inching on him...... well, my friend has an auto and IT WOULDNT SHIFT we were almost to redline and my friend was trying to get his car to shift but it wouldnt.... so we let off and we were both DEAD EVEN... my friend had a cow over this, but I thought it was awesome.

We get next to the guy again going about 30 and he rolls down his window and I scream 'holy ****! is that thing STOCK?' and he goes 'Yeah, its only got 1000 miles on it, what do you guys have' and my friend just looked at me and then got into the turning lane to make a u-turn, leaving the guy to keep going straight..... LOL!

My friend is like 'BS! THERES NO WAY HE WAS STOCK WTFWTWFWTF' and starts flipping out and I just kinda laughed.

His car is either wayyyyy more messed up than we thought, or the SRT-4 is one badddd *** car.


The reason he thought the SRT wasnt stock is because my friend also owns a Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo (330 horsepower)

and I drove his Mustang and raced him with his Stealth and I walked ALLLLLLLL over the Stealth, and in the Stealth we never lost... we raced a stage 1 SRT-4 in the Stealth and we dealt it.

If that guy was infact, stock. I have much respect for you guys... I've been doing a little research on the SRT all day and Im actually starting to like them.....

I ride a streetbike and my car is broken (85 Volvo 240DL) but, lately I have been wanting to trade my bike in for a car, if I did, I just might pick up an SRT-4

Sorry for the length..... I get carried away sometimes.

 

When the SRT-4 first first came out, like back in the days of the mule and concept I was like o_O eww frankenneon. I sat in a yellow one at my old dealership, not having a clue wtf it was capable of. I was just impressed with it in person, and i LOVEEEEEEEEED the seats. Being that it was an 03, it was Solar Yellow...of course.

I got to like them a bit more, but never saw any anywhere, and had just purchased a miata. But I did some research on them once i started working for a Dodge dealer, and Paul and Steve had one. (Paul's was still brand new at the time). We also had a black 04 in the showroom.....and that was it. I stared at the black one in the showroom, and the silver ones out back every single day....I was in love.

Never drove one, never been in someone else's. And a week later I had one trucked down from Boston with the options I wanted on it (Kicker, Viper, Sunroof). Been in love ever since.

They're kick *** when you drive them too.....very very impressive vehicles. As his only had 1k on it, it wasn't anywhere near its full potential yet, the more mileage you put on them the faster they become (up until about 10k).

If you test drove one youd probably fall in love with it.

And Black/Silver > * J/k guys lol.

 

yeah, I was like > < that close to talking my mom into buying one after she drove it. she got a pacifica instead. grr

 

The SRT-4 is a bear to get to launch right, that guy was either very good or very lucky......

 

If you get one you'll never regret it. The last few years of the Stealth R/T twin turbo were 320 horsepower, but they had to split it 4 ways and they weigh over 3,700 lbs. The SRT-4 turns almost identical times as the R/T twin turbos. And yeah, I was lookin at the Q-mile times and such, the SRT is slightly faster than the Stealth...

 

dude thats a great story. like most people i never knew the potential of the car til i test drove it. i took my wife just to look at it, she wanted to see why i liked it so much. well all they had was a red one and she was like, its ok. then she sat in the seats, and was like i like these. the dealer asked if we wanted to test drive it, i was like hell yeah. he jumped in a cranked it and my wife was like, i REALLY like that. so we drove it a few mins and she was saying lets get it. hell yeah, i was so happy. lol. i drove it about a week and now its been about 2 months since ive seen it.[&o] i miss my car!!!!!!!! thats ok march ill be back. im not sure what i miss most, the car or my wife....lol.

 

when i heard and read about the srt-4, i was intrigued already having owned a neon, but when i was able to pull a few strings and got a test drive, (no one but the floor managers at the dealership had a test drive), i had to have it. i bet alot of guys/gals were sold on their srt-4 like that. sound familiar anyone?

 

My dealer wouldn't let anyone test drive the SRT-4s, but they DID let me start the engine.........that was enough....

 

I know a guy that has a 69 SS camaro with a blower it has over 650 HP. He looked at my car and laughed and said my SS will eat that thing up. I told him your right but come on lets go ill let you drive it. He drove it and loves the car he said he would want one for a daily driver. Even a guy with a 650 HP car loves them man what can you say. They just grow on you and then you cant stop going crazy over it.

P.S. i plan on being over 300 whp by then end of the month well maybe a little longer i still have to wait for Stage 2 i wish they would hurry.
