i will get more with a tripod if i set the camera on the ground its doesnt show the neons. So this week i will take my tripod one night and grab some night pics. If i hold the camera and put it in night mode its hard for it to focus. Thats why Sexy said put it on the ground so it would be still lol.
Here is one from the ground nice and clear but neons dont show.

Ahhhh much better :-D Because your parking lights are orange you might be better off leaving them off during the night pix and just putting the undercarriage neons on. The camera's using the parking lights as its main source of light which is why they get blurry.
But they came out a helluva lot better than before!! Glad I could help. Night pictures are some of the hardest pictures to take, you need the slow shutter, but thats what ends up making everything blurry in the end. Here's a few more night pix. Some things NOT to do, and a few night pic pointers I've learned while I've been going along to help ya out some more.
Its better to set the flash on the lowest setting, because when taking night pix with the flash, you end up with something like this:

When you shut the flash off completely you get a more shrouded image, and because I have the camera on the ground the focus is a bit off. But the image looks better than the first one I posted.

A parking lot with really bright true white lights (like those at gas stations at night) make for great shots also. Still set on the nightmode but the light from above helps illuminate the car:

It also gets rid of the camera using the parking lights as a primary light source, because theres other light for it to detract from.
Again shutting the lights off is sometimes ALOT better. As in this pic where my tails look all blurry and funny. I would've been better off shutting them off and having the camera find a light source elsewhere:

This isn't a good picture but shows what I mean when I say the camera can take the light from another source. Taking night pix is hard. Taking night pix in snow...is HELL!!!! The snow is so bright that it makes everything else in the background dark. But with/without the flash your even worse off, sometimes theres just no winning with the damned snow [>:]

Another picture that would've turned out okay had I put the ISO down to 100, and Adjusted the White Balance for Cloudy. Thats why its so bluish. Sometimes leaving the white balance on automatic isn't the best thing cause your camera doesn't always make good decisions for itself (hee hee I know I got a Cybershot)

Orange lights at night distract way too much, and when used as a primary light source by the camera, the picture doesn't come out good:

On top of trying it without your parking lights on....NEVER leave your headlights on:

And just a few views of the different picture settings you have on your Cybershot:
Regular Night Mode:

Solarized (illustration style picture with clearly delineated bright and dark portions <- says cybershot book)

Black & White <- a given: Also probably the second worst for night shots unless its a highly lit area.

Negative Tone: The absolute WORST for night shots.

And sepia tone, wich is made to look like an old picture. Pretty cool if ya ask me. But better with brighter light (i.e. white light from gas station lights)

Anyways!!! Try it all out and post what you come up with. I'm gonna try to get some night shots while its snowing tomorrow. Harder to do cause the snow tends to act as the foreground and come in focus more than the car. But I'll try.
Lemme know how it works
