i dont know how i did it.... i seem to break things in odd ways like my tone ring comes un bolted and two of the heads of the bolts break off while the crank is spinning, i broke my pressure plate in half, and now my 4th and 1st rods are bent or broken, if i didnt luv this car i would have sold it...

 

Yes, 5th gear is overdrive.... but all that means is there is a big gear turning a small gear for speed opposed to a small gear turning a big for torque.... I don't know why 5th gear couldn't handle anymore power that 4th..... ? I had my srt-4 to 160 quite a few times with over 400whp...

 

5th gear can handle power just fine. i too have had it going up in 5th with no problems. not sure why people think that 5th gear will pop a motor lol

well...if their car isnt modded and they are running 160mph at redline that will definately do it...not enuff oil...old oil....he probly held it at redline for too long...too much heat build up...

All I know is that I don't want to blow my motor for any reason.

 

no it won't. our cars gear out at 172. STOCK. you will not blow your motor at that speed, bone stock or modded. something caused that engine to fail, but it wasn't his speed.

 

I did not redline it in 5th at all... I tryto never bounce redline in any gear at that....I dont know what caused it but i hope it doesnt happen again

 

Oh my bad...when I did 160mph I thought my car was about to top out (by the sound of the car)...because i didnt have the time to look down at my rpm's...i think mine sounded like it was running about 5,000 rpm....
how long were you doing about 160mph??? thats crazy...it takes me a good stretch of open, safe road for that...

 

i got there in less than 2 miles and I did not hold it there for very long. I was only on the freeway for 2 miles from stop to go
