Just installed AGP wastegate and have a ?
Alright I own a 2005 acr srt4 with a occ, sri, plugs and wires, doggy bones, sts, and booger bushings and now the agp wastegate. The installation went well cause I did it with a buddy and both of us are not mechanics so i was wondering if it was normal that the heat shield was getting so hot, to the point of smoking, after running the car for 5 min. but running it hard to test how much boost I was holding. I held 15 psi, if that is relevant, and my check engine light came on which I think is for the most part suppose to.
Plz let me know, Thanks!!

Would the smoke come because the heat shield was not on right and was touching the, i think the exhaust manifold or what ever the heatshield covers? maybe it was burning the heat shield??? or are you saying that it is not normal for it 2 get that hot?
it shouldn't get that hot period. it's normal for a red glow after some long-term heavy driving, but that's just not right. did you remember to cut the heatshield?
Did you use any PB blaster or anything like that to get the heatshield off. It could just be the pb blaster burning off and should stop after a day or so.

i didnt cut the heat shield i just bent it and yes i actually used wd-40 and i remember, now that you mentioned it, that i sprayed a little to much on one bolt and it prob. dripped on the exhaust manifold. i mean its hot enough that you cant have your hand an inch. away from it but isnt that just normal? it is also like 75-80 degrees here.?
