its held in place with one of the tail light nuts, a bolt at the top, and velcro-like stuff that sticks it to the carpet at the bottom.

You can probably only get those through a dealership, but I'm not sure. Also, what size sub mounts in there?

if you want subs just go and get a real box. those dinky little things don't do a whole lot.

yes, very true. they add depth to your sound, but if you want to 'thump' youll be disappointing.

^ True, if you want a "tight" bass sound, they are probably okay, but for maximum boom, thump, and efficiency, nothing beats a bandpass box.

Right now I have a bandpass with 2 Kicker 10s in it running off a 600 Watt amp in the trunk (which I can easily remove when I need the trunk space) plus a 200 watt infinity bass link (inside the car). Ridiculously loud.

That depends on which JLs you are talking about. The Kicker's I have are from 1996, made in USA,and cost $300 apiece back then. I would put them up against most JLs any day. I would only consider the W6 and W7 series from JL to be better than these. Also the box plays a huge role in theamount of bass, sound character, and efficency of your setup.

hell, lets start with the head unit. a cheap-o head unit is gonna make ANY sub / box / amp combo sound crappy in comparison.
as AWH said, there are many many variables in a system's setup
