Dog Bone Engine Mount Smashed Oil Pan
Saturday at the drag strip my new dog bone motor mount left a whopping hole in my oil pan on the first run of the day. $700 damage. How do I prevent this from happening again?
As it turns out the dog bone nut & bolt were right tight.
I put two sheaths of copper tubing around the bolt in the mount (at the oil pan end)to give it less play this time. Any other ideas?
Is the mount slamming up into the pan, or is the whole engine slamming down onto the mount?

Thank you flamingpinhead. You were right, the top engine mount had loosened a bit.
I tightened it and added an extra support bar from the fender wall to the lower mount. I don't know if that was a dumb idea or not, but the track is 200 clicks from my house and I can't afford another tow.
Anyhow, it didn't give me any grief on this Friday's excursion to the track, though I was easy on the starts so as no to get too much wheel hop.
Any suggestions on how to eliminate wheel hop? I have 235/17s with the best new Pirelli p-zero rubber I could find.

There are companies that sell traction bars, H-braces, etc. to try and keep the front wheels planted. Check out BWoodyPerformance.com they are one of the companies that sells these parts. As for the bushing, AGP sells dogbone bushings, washers and bolts separately.
