Hello everyone. Im new to the forum and i was wondering if i could get some help. First, i want to say that i am a really big fan of the srt 4. My friend just crashed his about a month ago, and no longer cares for the car. I was wondering if it is possible to fit the engine with the trany and computer on a 01-03 SXT. Do all the mounts line up? Are any mods required? thanx

 

you know i wanted to know this question also... but i gotta find the motor im pretty sure it will fit not quite sure about perfectly but i thinki itll fit

 

I imagine there's a good possibility that you'll be manufacturing new mounts... I don't know how easy it'll be. it's obviously possible though... good luck with the sleeper.

 

It will definately fit, the original SRT concept car was an '00-'02 Neon. I don't know if the mounting is the same though.

 

mounting is the same from what i understand. a friend of mine is starting this project in a few weeks. he's got a 03 sxt, says that it's a simple swap.

 

I have also heard its easy swap as long as you have all parts. I.e. engine, wiring harness, tranny, etc.

 

With an '03 SXT it will be a direct bolt in swap since they are the same as the SRT-4 in their mounting. They didn't have an SXT model in '02, did they? I do know that the first gen. Neons are very different in every way, but I'm uncertain as to the mechanical differences between the '00-'02's and the '03-'05's.

 

I decided to find out a little more from a very reliable source, so i paid a visit to the service center of a nearby dodge dealership. I asked one of the mechanics who later told me that my project is possible. He did mention the 03 models, and said that it is indeed a perfect fit. The earlier years (00-02) need an extra motor mount welded, and a minimal incision on the firewall (about 10x4 in.) to fit the turbine. Do you guys know if the computer going to be much trouble to replace and connect all the wiring? Also, should i replace any other parts (axles, suspension etc.) other than the engine, trany, and comp? My friend's srt4 is not hurt much, but is has been issued a CD (certificate of destruction.) I might pick the car up for less than 4k, so the upgrades will be quick, and reckless since i do not care for any waranty being voided. thanx for all your replies guys, i can barely wait for the little beast to come to life and show others what a NEON can do.

 

If you're going to do this, and the SRT-4 suspension is in-tact, I'd definatley swap that as well. So you can get much of the same handling characteristics that are stock w/an original SRT-4. Good Luck.

 

I've also got an sxt 2005. Was wondering if just the srt 4 motor would mount up to my 5 speed auto tranny?? Any advice and tips?? I'm wanting to build a sleeper..... Bring the boys to their knees here cryin!!
