Thanks guys. Hey BigMac why is an 04 srt the one i should be looking at, is the 04 model better or more reliable than the 05? I'm looking at and 04 with 52,000 miles. Not too sure if its stock, but it looks like it might have a stage 2 setup with turbo toys. What do yall think about this?

 

Bc if the 04 could sprout a beard and chest hair it would look like freakin tom sellic

in all seriousness from what i've been told the 04's have the best ecu's out of the 3 years these cars have been made i own a 04 now i had a 05 before i don't notice the difference.

 

that's because there is no difference. not much of a difference to the 03's either. people just want to believe that 04's are the best for some reason, makes them more expensive too.

 

04 seems to be the year of choice because it comes with the LSD, S1 injectors, stronger axles, and the sunroof option if you want one. The 05s seem to have a more finicky PCM (throws more codes) and arguably more problems with third gear.

This is the conventional wisdom on the subject. I'm just repeating it, not trying to defend it.

 

um doesnt the 05 have all of the things listed above? mines an 05 with lsd, si injectors, stronger axles, and a sunroof, and no pcm problems yet i havnt heard that one but it wouldnt surprise me i do get an overboost code every once and awhile, but i thought it was just the wastegate i put on.

 

Yes, poor wording on my part. I meant to imply that the 03 (only) didn't have those things. Sometimes I post too late at night for my tired brain.

no worries i thought thats what you meant i wasnt tryin to jump on you or anything i just wanted him and everyone else know the 05s are just as good as the 04s becasue they are the same car lol and themanotb it all depends on how the car looks underneath and if your buying it from a private person pay more attention to them than the car you can always tell how a person treats their car by talking to them anf most importantly test drive the car and make sure everything feels right and normal make sure you get it at full throttle for at least a few seconds to see if everything is all good. we wont be able to tell you about a car we cant see and touch and listen to so at least take some pics next time you go see it and post em up so we can tell you better
