Default Problem....

well after the second time bringin my car back to the dealership fo4r the "tps" problem, im still having the problem it seems.... when im driving it will feel fine, but when i come to a red light and i throw it in neutural it will rev at 2000 and stay around there untill i come to a full stop...anyone elses car do this? is it still a tps problem, or something else??? i tried looking for a boost leak but i couldnt find anything...any tips on how to look for a "boost leak"? (new at this...)
AND another problem i was having today was i hear a flutering sound (if thats even a word) lol coming from my short ram... its pretty loud, even if the hood is closed you hear it pretty well, even when im stoped at a red light, you'll hear a fast beat flutering sound... could it be that i need to clean my fliter? it is kinda dirty and a lil dry, still has some oil on it tho... anyone know what that sound could be, doesnt sound right to me at all....
please help if you could, thanks....

my car was doing the same off and on.. so i took the tps senser off and un wraped it a lil so it doesnt have that sharp bent in it anymore and reconected it and its been running fine after that..try that then if it doesnt help you can try to fix it like the other people or take it in.. my car flutters to but only in gear under negative boost.. i took off the air box and have a filter sitting there so thats why you can hear that.. other than that a dirty air filter wouldnt do it..

well if your talkin about the black wire on the tps senor, he did somethin with it, think soldered it... its been running alot better then it was, but now when im rolling to a red light in neutural it will stay at 2000 then drop down only when i come to a full stop...is that normal???
and bout the fluttering sound, other people said it was normal...(thank god) 1 less problem i have to worry about... but how do i go about cleaning it...?(short ram intake)

bello,

the not dropping thing is a symptom of the TPS sensor or wiring. Since your witring has been fixed, it must be the sensor. It gets confusing becuse it can go either way. Some folks get just the sensor changed, and it's good forever more, like myself. Some folks get the sensor changed multiple times and only the wiring fix makes it better.

So take it back, make sure you demo the problem for them by taking a tech for a short drive to show him.

and about the intake...lol i wasnt talking about the tube it self OrochiDio1 - i was talking about the fliter...its a short ram so you can actually see the fliter, and its a lil dirty/dry...think theres an oil clean fliter kit you can by right...?

Your fast idle problem sounds exactly like a problem I had with my 1997 neon expresso. It would idle around 2000 RPM until I came to a full stop. It would also idle fast between shifts. The dealer replaced the TPS, but it didn't fix the problem. I took it back to the dealer several times and spent over 600 dollars with no luck.

In the end I found the problem myself. It was broken wire going to the air conditioning compressor clutch. It had been touching the acessory belt and had worn off. I know this sounds odd for a idle problem, but there's an easy way to check. I found (by accident) that the problem went away when I turned the A/C fan to the off position. This is the only switch position where the compressor won't be engaged by the pcm. I know the SRT-4 doesn't have much in common under the hood with my old expresso, but it's easy to check out.

I hope this helps.
