Neon is a death trap!
Just wanted you guys to be aware of this.
"The institute was most critical of the Neon, saying the car performed so poorly that the driver likely wouldn't have survived the crash. DaimlerChrysler AG defended the Neon, saying it meets federal safety standards and its performance is similar to other small cars."

Just want to let you know, but alot of the people that at least used to be srt owners were in some pretty serious accidents, one guy rolled his srt and he walked away with a few bruises... I would love to see someone do that in a TOYota, or a VW bug... not that I really have anything against them, but those tiny little cars, I think you get my drift... I also would have to say that the majority of magazines seem to be biast to whomever has the deepest pocketbook at the time. I have an article clipped out, (I keep every article I have ever found on my srt) that talks about just how good the srt with held during their crash testing. It comments on how well the viper seats hold the driver in the seat and protect him from the side.
Maybe they are not the best, but I will say, don't always believe everything you read... I believe that experience with some serious accidents in the REAL world says a whole lot more than some magazine with tests done in some lab with set up test...

"No single test can determine a vehicle's overall safety performance or how the vehicle will perform in a specific crash," DaimlerChrysler said in a statement."
And let me add one final thought, how many people that have bought a SRT-4 or any performance car have actually ever even considered the impact ratings??? If you are that worried about something like that, then go out and but a 1 ton Diesel Dually. If you are bigger than everything out there, then you ought to be in pretty good shape. Don't worry about things that might happen, just enjoy what you have. If you were in a new cobalt, which got the highest rating, when an 18 wheeler runs over it, how safe do you think it really is??? Once again, let me say, enjoy what you have, if you are worried about how safe a little car is, then don't buy a little car, buy a giant truck...

I drove a 1997 neon for seven years before trading it on my SRT-4. Over that time I managed to get involved in several accidents. I was broadsided twice, once on either side. Each time the damage was major ($5000 to $7000). I'm happy to say, I survived both crashes. I didn't get as much as a scratch in either accident. In the real world the neon seems to hold together quite well.
Crash test results weren't something I considered when purchasing my SRT-4 (or any other car).

that is why you can't trust those stupid crash tests they always let it get hit by a battle wagon that caries ten of your closests friends.

I saw some pics of some wrecked SRT4s, they looked like crumpled up aluminum cans, so Im not sure what to think about the reports.
