Is the srt-4 not getting the credit it deserves
whats up fellas my name is matt and i am new to the srt4 life and i love it. i got a 2004 new in feb for 18k i cant wait to buy parts to make it faster. im going to the drags this weekend to see what she will run
ok I love srt4s and Ithink they deserve more credit than they are it is a neon in a class of its own. Im going to get me one soon. just because its not an import doesnt mean it cant be powerful so who cares isnt cool when you kill all others and they like what . so what im sayin srt4s are just as or better than any import or firebird or mustang or camero.
According to Road and track (I think thats what I heard this from) the Neon will be no more. Like the cavalier... They are going to keep the car's soul in the newly named car but at least that's what I heard. But this was back in srt-4s early development so they could have changed their minds since then. I drive a 1998 Dodge Neon R/T with racing clutch/flywheel, header, catback highflo, magnaflow exhaust, magnacor wires, racing cams, mr gasket oil air filter, custom cai, indy intake monster bore intake manifold and throttle body, soon to be all scrapped for a neon srt-4 motor swap. Pics coming soon. So to the threads of haters hating on chrysler and especially neons the one reason they hate is b/c c'mon they are really the only tunable sport compact domestic with the true budget geared speed. Mitsu owners hate on us b/c were fast and well diamler chryselr owns about 40% of them.
LOL And soon Diamler in april 06 will have 6 plants accross the US producing hyundai, mitsu, and chrysler motors for all models. LOL but wait there's more. Mitsu JDM's are now starting to carry diamler/chrysler motors in em and are actually have a higher boost in popularity. Like the Colt with its diamler benz motor. But dont get me wrong even if diamond star motors is no more at least the companies diamler and chrysler can still carry them into capable performing cars, and still have mitsubishi enthusiasts backing. But most mitsu enthusiasts dont know of diamler's huge stake in their controlling ownership of mitsubishi. So all in all its very laughable. "Yeah I drive a neon, so what?"

Yup, the new "neon" (check out allpar.com for more info), will be called the Caliber. In 2006 it will be a small sport wagon hatch kinda deal, then a coupe/sedan may make an appearance for the 2007 model year.
Its a "world" engine. Collaborations with Hyundai, Mitsubishi and Dodge created the engine, 2.4L i4 that will nestle in most of Dodge's smaller lineups. There is talk of a "future" SRT-4, but Dodge is steering clear of the turbocharged vehicles for the 2006 model year at the least.
The Mitsubishi EVO's will now be produced by Dodge also. The Lancer platform is whats being utilized to build the new "neon". The sould of the car may be existent, but the little car that said "Hi" is saying "Goodbye" for a new body style, which corresponds with Dodge's SUVPS (their selling points).
Again check out www.ALLPAR.com for all the latest on Chryslers new and concept vehicles, as word becomes available from DCX.
Also gone as of 2006, The Dodge Stratus Sedan (05), Stratus Coupe (05), Intrepid (04), Neon (05), Neon SRT(05), and Neon SRT ACR (05).
For the new lineup...which we all know well enough. And the new Hemi's coming to town soon. The Charger, and Charger Daytona R/T
What a sexy car. The Ram Daytona R/T is pretty sweet itself, with a similar trim package to that of the one on the new charger.

They still have yet to give me and many others what we've wanted all along for decades, an affordable great aggressively mean looking RWD 2dr. coupe with a very powerful V8 and manual transmission (with an optional automatic). Something in the mid-low $20K's, the Charger SRT-8's front end (it's just about the only part I really like on the new Charger) and '99 concept Charger R/T rear, a better bigger and more mod friendly Hemi or other larger V8 backed by a 6-spd. manual transmission or optional modified non-computer controlled 4-spd. automatic A727 Torqueflite and Sure Grip differential. I love my SRT-4, but it would be sold or traded in if I had to to get a car like this, I would try and keep my SRT-4 though.

now dont get me wrong, i love muscle cars. i had a '78 pontiac t/a. and i love rwd 2 door sports cars. i never thought id have a compact car until i got my '01 neon r/t. but one of the things that i really like about the srt4 is that its a four door NEON that will keep up with or beat most any other 2 door sports car around. not to mention that its not too expensive. i just think it awesome that u can pull up next to a guy in somethin like an s2k, which he prolly paid about 15k more for, and make him wonder why he spent so much money for a car so small you'd have trouble carrying a gym bag in.
Yea, I get that attitude crap around here also ( its a neon) especially from every schmuck driving a 5.0 mustang or Z-28 ( In Indiana, you would think it is the birthplace for Mustangs) So far I have had my car around a month and have raced 3 mustangs( beat them all)
They won't compliment but would rather make an excuse. Thats what is so great about a Srt, Just leave them if they tick you off
