Default Looking Around

Hello everyone,

First off I am looking at used cars right now... I just lost my WRX...my love. But life goes on. I am looking for a used, decent car, I have a few in mind right now, I always like SRT4s, for their performance and nasty *** exhaust notes. I just have a few question that hopefully some of you can help me out with.

How reliable are SRT4s? I am looking at two right now, both stock, one with about 24k, stock, never tracked/raced, and one with about 46k, same deal. Any problems that repeat themselves in the SRT4s?

Anything I should look out for while buying a used SRT4? I know they are performance cars...I am trying to find an older seller who seems responsible not to thrash it to death(the two listed above seem pretty legit)

If I were to upgrade, just to stage 2, what is the best way to go at it? Through mopar? If they still offer it...or where can I get a well price stage kit, easy to install by myself, if not by a professional?

And for all the owners who have had them for years, how reliable are they? I hate to sound like a broken record, but I am lookin for a car that will last me about 3 years at least with not many worries besides changing tires, brakes, oil, and gas,ha.

Any help at all is much appreciated. I hope I don't come off as a *** who doesn't know how to search, but I know, as well as most of you, searching doesn't always come up with the answers we need.

Thanks again for your time!!!

The car wont break unless you want it to (or force it to). They have a bad rap because of the Neon heritage, but all in all, they are very problem free and well built cars. The trannys can handle a beating and the motor can take 500hp. Every car will have some bugs and the SRT is no exception, but nothing major (ala WRX glass tranny lol). Again, the car is only as good as how it is taken care of, but it can handle some abuse and finding a completely "non raced" one is a tad far fetched, but hey..

Mopar I believe only offers S1 now, but used S2 and a few S3 kits can be found used. Its cool to have Mopar, but that was sooo last year. With Diablo and other tuners out now, those are the way to go. Some bolt ons can be tricky on the car, but for the most part they arent bad.

thanks! I really appreciate your info. I know every car has its lil things....I owned a WRX...07. Lots of rattles/creaks, the tranny sucked...but I never beat it, for OBVIOUS reasons. I am looking to get a stock SRT4...hoping it wasn't thrashed upon too badly from the previous owner. There is one other car I am really considering, its on a dif spectrum, seeing how its RWD, convertible, and wears a H symbol....

Thanks again. I have to check out diablo and all, been a while since I was in the market for a car.

Down the road I would think about a even 300whp and wtq would be enough to keep me happy for a long time....I miss my low end 330wtq off the Suby

Thanks once again!!!
