hey everyone new to the boards, quick question been looking at buying a srt-4 and was woundering if anyone knew what type of internals are in the eng and how much power can it hold, with out having to be rebuilt.

they can hold 350 plus at wheels all day.

 

with proper fuel support the internals can handle 500+fwhp

what are you guys talking about i got a T91 with stock fuel management running 46psi i make 978 whp all day long i run 4's on 87 octane

hey psi ive got a friend who is not a big srt-4 fan but says he has heard alot of the 500hp srts blowing motors just wondering if theres any fact to this statement.[sm=feedback.gif][sm=feedback.gif]

 

no, that's not true. the one that everyone knows about is steve anderson in his yellow 03. it blew at the track and there was a video of it, which is why everyone knows of it. he did not have the fuel up to par, and has since corrected that problem. other than him, i don't know of any 500+hp car that has blown the engine. have there been problems? yes, of course. but nothing major that couldn't be corrected.

 

kinda figured that since he's a hater because he has an sti and feels threatened by the srt-4.

 

There was an article on the SRT-4 engine, it's internals and all in the october 2003 issue of Sport Compact Car magazine. They tear it completely down, including the turbocharger and reviewed it all, they said it was a great strong engine that can handle far more horsepower than what it comes with from the factory. Here is a quote from part of that article, "The SRT-4 drag teams are rumored to be making between 800 and 1,200 hp on the stock crank (and stock block and bedplate), so we figure it's strong enough." Enough said.
