no that's not how it works. i have heard this a lot lately from people, that they think that if they fight a ticket that was given to them wrongly the entire police force will be out looking for them trying to get them. do you have any idea how many tickets a year cops write and are either reduced or thrown out? it's quite a lot. it's not a personal, it's their job. now if you went into court and acted like an *** and threw it in the cops face, well then yea you would have a problem. but if the ticket is ligitemetly thrown out, and you act respectful and polite to the cop in court and even before when you speak to him/her, you should be fine. the cop isn't going to take it as a personal insult and hunt you down looking to screw you over.

you sound like you need to talk to a cop and find out what they are really all about. they aren't out to screw over everyone under the age of 21 like people under the age of 21 seem to think they are (ok, well maybe some are, but they are the vast minority of police officers out there).

it's like a friend of mine once said to me "every dick wants to be a cop, but not every cop is a dick". i have found that to be very true.

 

if we could all bat our eyelashes at the cop when we get pulled over, we wouldnt have to worry about anything...but that doesnt work for all of us. the last time i got pulled over, the first thing he said was "i could hear your stereo from a mile away"...well, i then showed him that i didnt have any stereo because my amp was out

"well, it must have been someone else...license and registration"

i said, for what...it wasnt my stereo...and he just repeated himself, so i gave it to him...then 2 more cars showed up...they walked up on opposite sides of my car..and the pig on the passenger side reached into my car and picked up a shirt on my passenger seat, so i rolled my window up...the pig on the drivers side said,
"do you know why i pulled you over?"

i replied with "because you heard my stereo that doesnt work?"

him: "no smartass, because your windows are illegally tinted"
me: "what is the legal limit"
him: "30%"
me: "and what tool was the darkness measured with?"
him:i dont need a tool...i can just tell
me: i understand..
him: and your exhaust..it is illegal too...
me: based on what?
him: its too big
me: its stock (its not)
him: oh, nevermind then...that thing covering your third brake light is illegal..and that ram head in your back window...hmm..why isnt your back window tinted?
me: because, evidently it is illegal.
him: youre not funny..you know, these tires are illegally low profile, and this car is too low (factory tire size and ride height)
me: its all stock...and withing state inspection code.

and he walks away...and i dialed my phone, because my dad and i are both close friends with the chief of police in that district..and while im on the phone, he hurries back to the drivers side and says
him: who are you talking to..
me: what difference does it make?
him: because i asked...now tell me...
me: my lawyer
him: oh, so thats how its going to be
me: yes.
him: well, its not going to do you any good to lawyer up, these are all clear violations..so are you going to strip this window tint off for me?
me:no
him: *laughs* thats fine, and next time i see you, i promise i will hit you with at least 1000 in fines...are you going to take that tint off now?
(i smiled up at him and said) no, my dad and i are close friends with Chief ******...have been for a while..and he has ridden in this car. i think i will leave it just the way it is...he then tossed my cards into my lap and walked away all dejected. muttering something about "kids in imports"...

in pa, the pig who issues the ticket doesnt even have to show up for the hearing anymore...every ticket fought, is lost, unless you know someone..i happen to know the chief, and i was even able to get a friend off from a severe violation...being nice doesnt work...knowing people, and knowing your rights does....

maybe where you live you can get away with fighting tickets, but it doesnt fly where i used to live, because there is nothing else for the pigs to do..there is no real crime...and batting eye lashes doesnt work with me.

guilty until proven innocent...every cop IS a dick, until they prove otherwise...most of them never do prove otherwise, and are just trying to recover for their small-man syndrome.

 

honestly, if i was a cop and you gave me attitude like that i would throw the book at you too. if you're a dick to them, they'll be a dick right back. sounds like you just need to learn how to conduct yourself when being pulled over and maybe you wouldn't have so many problems. try being respectful and polite and maybe the cop would be the same to you. if you come right out with an attitude they're not likely to be very nice to you. and don't even try to say that you were being respectful, if you said what you actually wrote you were being a smart *** kid which is probably what pissed the cop off so much.

and i take offense to the batting my eyes comment. just because i'm a girl you think that gets me out of tickets? try telling that to the 3 foot tall female highway one NYPD officers and see how far that goes. sorry, but philly cops have nothing on the nypd. i've been pulled over by philly cops, didn't have a problem with them. i've been pulled over by nypd also, and didn't have a problem there. but that's maybe because i didn't give them attitude and try to get them in trouble the minute they pulled me over, even though i very well could have (you're not the only one that knows people). for someone who seems to hate cops so much i wonder how the chief of police would feel hearing you talk about his officers this way.

where's dusty, i'm sure he could shead some light on this subject.

Exactly. I completely agree with PSI Chick. At one time I thought I got a ticket every 2 months (yes, I was speeding) I take responsibility for it and I am polite to the cop that pulled me over. Never have been given any problems by them even ask them questions and they always answer them and give advice. Stop being a young jerk to them and I bet they will be alittle nicer to you. For someone that seems to hate crooked cops you sure don't seem to waste anytime using any connection you have to get you out of a ticket, be it a legit or nonlegit ticket. And what is up with the Pig comments? What are we back in the 80's.

 

well...the fact of the matter is that i am more educated the most of the cops i come across COMBINED..they are "administration of justice" majors, which i know is offered at all of the really trashy, dumb-kids schools in the surrounding area...he pulled me over for something that i didnt even have. then to cover for his own stupidity, he tried to give me a hard time, but he was too Dumb to come up with anything that would hold up...that, and i know the chief. so i can basicaly do whatever i want, within reason...

i do respect cops in the cities...liek inner city cops, such as philthy, NYC...Detroit...chitown..so on...but these small town cops where i grew up...it is a fairly affluent area, and there really isnt any crime, so they have nothing to do except for hastle people in nice cars. i know a few older guys that retired recently, and they were on the force for something like 25 years...neither of them ever once drew their gun. the young ones are bullies with guns...and about 95% of them are idiots, and i will treat them accordingly...they expect me to bow down and cower in fear when they pull me over? why? theres nothing he can do other than throw a bunch of illegitmate tickets at me...but ive drank with the chief..hes a big mopar guy...im not worried...

and the female cops? ugh....the campus cops were alot of female cops....all of the short fat girls who couldnt catch a piece or get invited to a party growing up, so just like the small-man syndrome cops, they will pick on people, hiding behind their gun and badge. at least in some cases, the guys hiding behind the badge are physically fit/muscular...the women on the other hand....there is nothing LESS intimidating than a woman cop on a bicycle...

 

I know these cops of which you speak. Let me say that these cops deserve the label of "Hogzillas" and everything badstratRT says is true about them. They even pulled our 65 YO father because they recognized the car, and ran him through a similar BS session about the hood and the tires, and the exhaust, and the tach, etc. What a bunch of a$$es.

There are cool cops though. I know I could deal with Jim Tenney if I had to. OK there's only one. [sm=joke.gif]

 

Maybe in your area they are like that but most of them will be nice to you if you are nice back. If they catch a whiff of attitude from you then you get some back. I came from a small town in CT and never had a problem with the cops there even when running around in my riced out elantra with Neon all over it. yeah, i got over that phase and moved on to a new type of Neon. Hell, if I was a cop I would love to be one in my home town. Most things I would have to do is stop the stupid kids from Drinking and driving and the occational speeding ticket. They haven't had a murder there for decades. Accidents that result in deaths don't count, and those would probably be from the stupid drinking kids that I just mentioned. Peice of cake job.

 

I can personally attest to that all cops are not dic's. I happen to be good friends with several cops and beat's in my old home town even had a few dr**ks with them when i was under age in high school so i now personally not all small town cops are like yours

 

well, i shouldnt say "small town" because its not, but its not like detroit or nyc...
