3. This is my first turbo car and i love it, just wanted to know if down shifting is still ok or is it not good for the turbo?

Oh ya i already have a win under my belt and newer eclipse gt v6 and man was that easy, i didn't even really try just passed him then he gave me the finger wow it was fun!!!

For some reason, people like to try to "mess up" SRT-4s. Maybe it's jealosy. Expect more of the same unless you make it a point to park away from other cars. Even then, I've had people walk up to mine and key it..........

Welcome to DF! I'm glad you love it here, I know we do. As to your 1st question, they are low profile tires and they always seems to look low, especially up front. You should only be running it with 35 psi as per manufacturer specs. On to your 2nd question, the turbocharged cars are just like that, they idle different than your normally aspirated cars, they usually have a more aggressive cam for when they are at full boost and they kinda lope a little like a mini muscle car. Everything is just fine. 3rd, downshifting is fine and can be done just like any other car.

Good job on your first kill. You will get mysterious things that just seem to happen to your car and your car only, most of us seem to be experiencing the same.

[sm=exactly.gif] The '85 Vette is the biggest paper weight I've ever seen, they only had 185 horsepower.[sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif] You can also tear up most Camaro, Firebirds and Mustangs as well, especially from the late 70's to the early 90's.

If you think that's sad out of a 5.7L 350, then you need to hear about the 185 horsepower the '79 Trans Ams had with the 6.6 Liter 403 Olds engine, now that's a boat anchor.

On the tire pressure - for the street - RR is right - manufacturer spec is a good place to stay - premature tire wear in the center at high pressure (45psi is definitely high) and premature tire wear on the outside of the tire at low pressure (under 30psi). However - after a lot of testing, and shoepolishing sidewalls... I have found that 39-40 lbs in the front, and 35-36 in the rear will net you improvements in handling - you will push less in corners at those pressures and have optimum contact at higher cornering loads. With regular tire pressure the car pulled .87g's in cornering, with 36/40 it pulled .88-.89g's.

That vibration you feel - I used to have it as well. I purchased some MSD wires and it almost dissapeared. The lower resistance is a great improvement over stock wires. Also, motor mount inserts help a lot, as part of the stumble you feel is the engine torquing back and forth in the overly soft stock mounts. These two upgrades are inexpensive and solve the problem.

Downshifting is fine. Work on revmatching as well, this will help you corner a lot better and is a good practice to employ on any manual tranny.

Enjoy your SRT... and welcome.
